Alex Garland's Annihilation

Based on the earlier looks at Annihilation, Ex Machina director Alex Garland‘s upcoming film promises to be very thought-provoking if not perplexing. For one thing, Paramount and producers are worried that the film may be too smart for the average audience. In fact, this has led to some conflicts that have occurred on set.

It’s not clear what the end result will be, at least not until the film is released, but a new trailer should provide some clarity about the film. Or at least it should try to. Check it out below.

Contemporary biopics no longer adhere to the traditional means of telling the entire life story of a subject. Nowadays, audiences are only given a small fraction of it. But it is in that stage of life that truly defines the subject. In Jackie, we see Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy at her most vulnerable point in life, where she has to deal with the grief of losing her husband, the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy. The traumatic event would be enough to shatter anyone, but it is what she does in the aftermath that will truly cement her name among the greatest of First Ladies. With a strong script from Noah Oppenheim and director Pablo Larrin giving an outsider’s perspective on the matter, Jackie is hauntingly poetic view of an untold story. My full review below.

Jane Foster

The character of Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, in the Thor films has stayed true to the spirit of the character in the comics. For one thing, she helped give an understanding of how things work on Earth as opposed to Asgard. The character also acted as a love interest which stretched for two films.

But now it seems Marvel isn’t using the character anymore. She is officially out of Thor: Ragnarok, and it sounds an awful lot like she won’t be seen again anytime soon. According to Portman, she believes that she is done. More on the story below.
