No Man's Sky Environment

There’s no doubt that No Man’s Sky is one of the most exciting upcoming video game titles coming our way, with some even looking at it as their top most exciting upcoming game. But it’s also one everyone is a little bit nervous about, because let’s face it, something that looks and sounds this impossibly incredible has to be too good to be true…right?

But until we know for sure whether the game will be everything we hope it will be, all we can do is remain excited for it and watch new previews when they arrive. If the first look we got at the game and the new preview shown at E3 2014 weren’t enough, there’s some new goodies to take a peek at.

Gamespot recently did an in-depth multi-video “Next Big Game” series covering everything there is to know about No Man’s Sky so far. These are the videos to watch if you’re seeking to be fully informed about the game, and all of them can be seen below.

No Man's Sky E3 Trailer

Back in December we were first introduced to one of the most ambitious video game projects ever, No Man’s Sky, an open-universe procedural exploration game that starts every player on a different planet an let’s you go wherever you want to, with an endless amount of places to visit—so many places that of everyone playing you could be the first one to discover certain planets or species or landmarks (attaching your name to it as the discoverer for other visitors to see), and even crossing paths with other explorers is a rare occurrence.

The game sounded so ambitious in fact, it seemed way too good to be true. Especially with only a few people working on it! But the small team at Hello Games (they’re up from four in December to a whopping ten employees now) was in attendance at E3 2014, and announced that the game would be coming to consoles first on Sony’s PlayStation 4. They also brought with them some new gameplay trailers for us to watch in awe, hoping the game will be everything it’s said to be.

You can check out the new No Man’s Sky gameplay trailers below, as well as a video of Hello Games founder Sean Murray talking about the game.

Hello Games' No Man's Sky

One of the other few highlights of the recent VGX video game awards (another being the announcement of new Game of Thrones and Borderlands video games from Telltale) came in the form of a very intriguing and unbelievably ambitious new video game announcement.

The game is titled No Man’s Sky, and it looks to offer the ultimate exploration experience. If you asked all geeks what their dream video game would be, many of them would likely answer with “an open-world space exploration game.” Open-world games today are great—huge maps you’re free to explore for hundreds of hours—but they always do have an end to where you can go. But what if, in a game like Skyrim for example, instead of saying “I want to go to the top of that mountain!” and making your way to that destination, you looked up into the night skies, saw a planet, and decided you wanted to jump into your dragon space ship and go and explore there for a while? That’s the idea we’re dealing with here. Told ya…ambitious! But it gets better.

Click on over to the other side for more and to see the first trailer for No Man’s Sky.
