Fox Searchlight has released a new trailer for The Favourite, an upcoming historical drama about Queen Anne in the early 18th century which stars Emma Stone (La La Land, Birdman), Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener, The Fountain), and Olivia Colman (Hot Fuzz, The Crown).
If this is the first you’ve heard of the movie, the trailer might initially make it look like your typical awards season release—or “Oscar Bait,” as they are often labeled. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Those types of films are often excellent. But as the trailer progresses it quickly becomes more than just a historical drama. It becomes funny. It becomes dark. All led by what appear to be three fittingly awards-caliber performances by Stone, Weisz, and Colman.

A second trailer has been released for Murder on the Orient Express, the latest adaptation of the 1934 Agatha Christie novel of the same name directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh as renowned fictional detective Hercule Poirot.

In his directorial debut, English actor Paddy Considine serves up the indie drama Tyrannosaur; a wonderful but gritty film that follows the lives of two people and their fates as their paths cross. With an intense storyline with some incredible and emotional punches-to-the-gut, along with some of the most straightforward and brutal performances you will see in a long time, Tyrannosaur is not just a good movie, it is a must-see experience.
Tyrannosaur shadows the journey of two individuals, both wrestling with darker sides of the lives, and what happens when they cross paths. The main character, Joseph, played by Peter Mullan, is drowning in alcohol and depression, aggravated at life – with every decision and action just further adding upon his depression and anger.
