Cinemax has announced premiere dates and windows for a few of their series, some returning for new seasons and others making their debuts.
These premiere dates/windows include season two of Outcast, the horror series based on The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and Paul Azaceta’s comic of the same name; season five of Strike Back; the debut of C.B. Strike, which is based on Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s (writing under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith) Cormoran Strike crime fiction novels; and the debut of Rellik, a six-part crime thriller.
The next TV series based on the comics of Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, titled Outcast, hasn’t even debuted yet, but it’s already impressed Cinemax enough to give the show a second season.
Along with the early second season order, Cinemax has also announced an official premiere date for season one of the series, which follows a man who has dealt with demonic possession his entire life on a journey for answers.
Back in February we found out about Outcast, a new TV series coming to Cinemax from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. The show is based on Kirkman’s comic book of the same name.
The show follows a man (played by Almost Famous and Gone Girl star Patrick Fugit) whose family has been troubled by demonic possessions, with the help of a reverend who struggles with his own personal demons all of his life, on a quest to find some answers and regain his normal life when he makes a massive discovery that could alter both his and the world’s fate forever.
You can read a synopsis and watch the first trailer for Outcast below now.
Fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead, as well as the comic book series created by Robert Kirkman that the show is based on, can look forward to another show based on one of Kirkman’s comics.
It’s been officially announced that a full series order has been given to the supernatural horror-drama Outcast, which will air on the HBO-owned Cinemax. The order is for ten episodes, and Adam Wingard (You’re Next, The Guest) directed the pilot episode. Kirkman penned the pilot’s screenplay himself.
The show stars Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous, Gone Girl) as Kyle Barnes, a man whose family has been involved in demonic possessions his entire life. With the help of a preacher who also has personal demons named Reverend Anderson, Barnes is on a mission to find answers and regain the normal life he once had. While on his quest, he makes a discovery that could change his and the entire world’s fate forever.
Amazon and Random House Digital have a surprising deal on the opening tale of the current Star Wars novel series, Fate of the Jedi. Entitled Outcast, the eBook version of the novel is currently available for $1.99! That’s 93% off of the usual $27 price — an excellent deal for the Star Wars Expanded Universe addict.
Also, being so close to the holiday season, it would make a pretty good cheap gift for someone who is just getting into the whole Kindle scene.
