More than 30 years after Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi, and Rob Tapert created The Evil Dead, the trio came back to work on Ash vs Evil Dead for the Starz network. The series debuted late last year after premiering at New York Comic-Con. Fresh off their appearance at SDCC, and with a little more than a month till its season 2 premiere, the first season is being released on Blu-ray this week. Season 1 saw Ash Williams (Campbell) accidentally conjure the Evil Dead again after reading from the Necronomicon while getting high with a young fluzy. Soon demons and deadites are everywhere and Ash is left to grab his boomstick and rev up the ole chainsaw hand. Joining him in his quest to vanquish evil are his former co-workers and sidekicks Pablo (Ray Santiago), and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo). Together the trio was forced to deal with the evils of the book as well as a rogue FBI agent (Jill Marie Jones) and a strange woman with connections to Ash’s past (Lucy Lawless).

The big development of last week’s episode was that Amanda Fisher (Jill Marie Jones) is now part of the gang. Ruby (Lucy Lawless) burnt up, and blew up fighting the Brujo deadite, and Ash’s evil decomposing hand scurried off. Fisher was saved by Ash (Bruce Campbell) at the diner, and with no one to turn to she joined up with Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) and Pablo (Ray Santiago). Ash realizes now, that in order to finally put a stop to the Evil Dead, he must go back to where it all started… the cabin. But first, there’s Lem.

Spoilers…
Last week on Ash vs Evil Dead, Ash (Bruce Campbell) and friends managed to outsmart and defeat the demon Eligos. Unfortunately, not before Brujo (Hemky Madera) met his demise and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) got taken for a ride possession style. With the death count rising, Ash realizes he needs his companions and embraces his calling as their mentor. His drug-fueled visions at Brujo’s pointed him back to where it all started”¦ the cabin in the woods. Probably good timing, as Ruby (Lucy Lawless) and Fisher (Jill Marie Jones) inch closer to them, led by Ash’s original demonically charged severed hand.
