The first images from Pan, the upcoming Peter Pan origins movie being directed by Joe Wright (Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, Hanna), have found their way online.
The images offer us our first peek at star Hugh Jackman, who’s set to play the dreaded pirate Blackbeard, in full costume. The Peter Pan villain everyone is most familiar with, Hook, is also in the movie (played by Garrett Hedlund), though back before he was a bad guy when he was more of a “dashing Indiana Jones-like figure.”
You can check out the first images from the movie including Jackman as Blackbeard below.
Peter Pan Live! is an upcoming live performance of the Broadway musical adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s classic Peter Pan fairy tale set to air on December 4th on NBC, hoping to mirror the success of last December’s The Sound of Music Live!
The performance will star Allison Williams (Girls) as Peter Pan and Christopher Walken as Captain Hook. The first image of Williams as Pan was revealed earlier this month, but yesterday executive producer Neil Meron shared the first image of Walken as Hook engaged in a sword fight with Pan on his ship.
You can read more about Peter Pan Live! and see the picture below.
Last month it was revealed that Atonement and Anna Karenina director Joe Wright was in talks to direct Pan, a new movie about the origins of Peter Pan written by Jason Fuchs.
With that deal done, the movie has entered the casting process. The first name up is none other than Hugh Jackman, who has entered into negotiations to play the film’s villain, the pirate Blackbeard.
Joe Wright, the Golden Globe nominated director of Atonement, is in negotiations to make a new movie about Peter Pan titled Pan for Warner Brothers.
The movie is an origins story, telling of a young orphan boy who is brought to the magical world of Neverland, where he becomes a savior to the native people, and leads a rebellion against pirates.
