When Legendary Pictures acquired the rights to make a Pokemon movie a month ago, it was following the successful launch of the mobile smartphone game Pokemon Go. Basically, the production company was taking advantage of the resurgence.
While the games provide a wealth of source material to work with, Legendary will not be using any of it. Instead, they will be making an adaptation of recent Japanese title Great Detective Pikachu. Now Guardians of the Galaxy writer Nicole Perlman and Gravity Falls animated series scribe Alex Hirsch are close to writing the adaptation. More on the story below.
