Script Review Of Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Predators’ Reveals All Kinds Of Juicy Details; Our Dream Cast Shared!
  |  @   |

Latino Review worked that magic that only they know how to work and got hold of a draft of producer Robert Rodriguez‘s Predators script. With this script comes a reveal of full details of the movie, including characters, setting, premise, and possible rumor confirmation. The draft that was read is dated July of 2009, so it has to be the working draft, or at least severely close to it. Be sure to head over to the source site for their great video with all of the details.

The tricky thing in all of this is that it’s through Fox, but the studio does seem bent on making up for the unspeakable Alien vs. Predator disaster pieces. From this script review, we learn one very important detail: it’s built as an ultra-violent, hard R-rated movie, as it should be. If Fox allows director Nimród Antal and Rodriguez to let it all fly free and doesn’t try and impose on them to tone it down for a broader audience, we could be in for quite a treat.

Click over to the other side for story details and a run down of the characters with our Christmas wish list of actors to fill the roles! There will be small spoilers of how the film will set up, so if you don’t enjoy knowing anything, avert your eyes.

Danny Trejo The First Actor Confirmed For Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Predators’
  |  @   |

Back in April, it was confirmed that Sin City director Robert Rodriguez was going to be bringing us a new take on the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic Predator. The new vision will be called Predators, and strangely, people were pretty excited about the news instead of the traditional angry response to remake announcements (just goes to show you how much a great and respected director’s name can make a difference). After many rumors swirled as to who would direct the movie, it was announced that it would be Nimród Antal, a semi-newcomer who helmed Vacancy and the upcoming Armored.

Any sort of remake or sequel to a Schwarzenegger movie immediately brings with it talk off the Governor himself making a cameo, but aside from this, we had no actual casting info or rumors until now. While speaking to Punch Drunk Critic, star of the recently-wrapped Machete, Danny Trejo, either shared or let slip that he would be doing Predators next, and that it would be getting started in about a month. No details on who he might be playing in the movie or if any other names had been cast, but all the same, an exciting first name to be cast.

Nimród Antal Confirmed As ‘Predators’ Director; Fox Trying To Fix Their ‘AvP’ Boo-Boo
  |  @   |

In the not so distant past, Latino Review caught word that Nimród Antal was the top choice to direct the Rober Rodriguez-produced reboot Predators for Fox and Troublemaker Studios. Now, this news has been confirmed directly from Rodriguez himself to Ain’t It Cool News.

Antal is still fairly new to the game, but he has directed movies like Kontroll and Vacancy, with another on the way called Armored. The director was among a handful of talents being considered for the job, including Marcus Nispel (Friday the 13th) and Neil Marshall (The Descent). Rodriguez ultimately chose Antal after noticing many impressive skills and virtues that reminded him of a young Quentin Tarantino — most of which was his ability to work with various well-known actors without issue. This trait stood out due to the fact that Rodriguez wants Predators to have strong story as well as a great cast fueling the action flick. He also is putting the work into creating awesome creatures and avoiding CGI as much as humanly possible, which is worthy of celebration.

What’s even better than knowing who the director will be is: finally having a little inside information on this project from Rodriguez himself. He answered some questions for AICN (click the link above to check out all of the questions and answers) which offered some interesting information — including some small hints at how this movie will look.

Neil Marshall Close To Signing On For ‘Predators’?
  |  @   |

Bloody-Disgusting has it on very good authority that a one Neil Marshall is close to signing on to direct Predators, another new horror reboot being produced by Robert Rodriguez and his Troublemaker Studios (Read: Robert Rodriguez To Direct “˜Predator’ Reboot; Confirms Himself For “˜Sin City 2″²).

The movie is expected to be similar to the original Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but with some changes and what’s certain to be a whole new look. One big change is that it appears that many Predators will be in the film instead of just one based on the brief description: “”¦a team of commandos face down a mysterious race of vicious monsters.”

Neil Marshall is best known for his cave-dwelling horror The Descent and the post-apocalyptic Doomsday. Fittingly, the main concern with this reboot will be how much CGI is going to be used — if The Descent is any basis for comparison, then fans will be happy to know that Marshall can put together some creepy beasties without all that cheap computer animation. No CGI in this reboot would be its possible saving grace…that, of course, and the faithful R-rating that is essential to Predator movies. Thankfully, if this rumor comes true, there’s a strong chance for both of these elements being handled properly and that we may have a fun little reboot on-hand.

Robert Rodriguez To Direct ‘Predator’ Reboot; Confirms Himself For ‘Sin City 2’
  |  @   |

UPDATE: /Film has discovered a report from ERC which states that Predators will be released on July 7, 2010, which means this one is on that fast track. They also say that no writer or director have been hired, so hold off on all that Robert Rodriguez will be directing stuff!

IESB has the dirty details on a conference that took place at Troublemaker Studios in celebration of a bill being signed to push forward a Texas film incentive program. Press and politicians alike were on hand to hear what Troublemaker main man Robert Rodriguez had to say about the program and the films that he would be able to now film in Texas.

Rodriguez mentions Machete, his sci-fi film Nervewrackers, as well as his live-action movie based on The Jetsons, but also touched on two very interesting titles: Predator and Sin City 2.

Most notably, it looks like Robert Rodriguez will be producing and directing his very own reboot of the classic Predator series called Predators. This confirms a scoop that Bloody-Disgusting received back in January — a scoop that describes the movie as being about “…a team of commandos face down a mysterious race of vicious monsters.” Yes, indeed, an entire race of those horrifying dreadlocked beasts.
