To go along with the many details touched on during the San Diego Comic–Con panel for director Ridley Scott‘s upcoming Alien prequel, Prometheus, the first official image from the movie has been released online to the masses.
The image doesn’t show a whole lot, but you will see an that dark Alien outer space and an astronaut navigating their way through a gravity–less area.
You can see the first official image from Ridley Scott’s Prometheus by continuing on below now!
We’ve been hearing about a 300 prequel/sequel/spinoff for a while now, but we knew it would be a long while before we actually saw it because creator Frank Miller still had to work on the graphic novel for which the movie would be based. In fact, it was almost one year ago that Zack Snyder confirmed that he was working on the script for the prequel, and we haven’t heard much of anything major since then.
At that time it was unclear whether or not Snyder would return to direct the movie, which is now titled 300: Battle of Artemisia (previously titled Xerxes, which is the name of Miller’s graphic novel), though it sounded like he very much wanted to, saying “It’s really going to depend on what the studio wants to do…I don’t have a directing deal in place but we are writing it, so call it intent. If there was a crime they could probably convict me.” But we now know that what the studio (Warner Brothers) wanted, was for Snyder to take on their reboot of Superman, titled Man of Steel, which will star Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, and Michael Shannon, to name a few.
Everything is coming together rather nicely for director Sam Raimi‘s Wizard of Oz prequel Oz, The Great and Powerful thus far.
After a rocky start trying to lock in a lead, things have settled down and quite the impressive cast has been put together. The prequel stars James Franco as a snake oil salesman who’s whisked off to the lands of Oz in his hot air balloon, where he’ll find himself in the middle of a power struggle before becoming the eventual “Wizard of Oz.” But before Franco was confirmed, Robert Downey Jr. was set to play the part and Johnny Depp was mentioned as a possibility when Downey left.
It’s being reported that yet another incredibly talented actor, Guy Pearce, has been cast in director Ridley Scott‘s upcoming movie, Prometheus, which is the currently filming prequel to his 1979 horror classic, Alien.
It’s unclear what role Pearce will be playing, but he joins a fantastic existing cast that includes Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, X-Men: First Class), Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), Charlize Theron (Monster, The Road), Idris Elba (The Losers, Thor), Sean Harris (24 Hour Party People, The Borgias), Kate Dickie (The Pillars of the Earth), Rafe Spall (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), and Logan Marshall-Green (Devil, Across the Universe).
Some major news on Ridley Scott‘s much-discussed Alien prequel has come down the pipe — news that should fetch some interesting reaction from fans who may or may not have been looking forward to another adventure in that world.
After all the things we’ve been hearing about an Alien prequel, from Sigourney Weaver first talking about a fifth movie back in ’08 to first hints that Scott might actually do it. Then the confirmation that the movie was happening with a new director instead of Scott to Scott choosing to do it himself, and that it would be a two-part prequel. Finally, we found out that LOST co-creator Damon Lindelof was re-writing the script, and that Ridley was possibly going to present a storyline that showed the alien creatures from his classic 1979 horror were actually genetically engineered as weapons.
After ALL of that, it sounds like Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel might not be a prequel at all, and that the story they’ve created has evolved into something completely unique. Something called Prometheus.
