Looking at the new trailer for Sam Raimi‘s Oz: The Great and Powerful, you’ll notice that the film will be rich in visual effects, very bright, and very colorful. A lot of that has to do with the fact that the producers of Alice in Wonderland were involved in the making of the film. It may look the same but there are a lot of different elements at play here, which may make the quality of the film better than Alice.

So check out the newest trailer for Oz: The Great and Powerful.

Unlike Alice, Raimi didn’t have to resort to collaborating with multiple go-to-guys to make up the cast like Tim Burton does – not that it’s a bad thing. James Franco plays the lead in the film that is full of magic, adventure, and humor. While it may visually look like Alice, are not getting Burton’s style pounding us over the head repeatedly. The only thing that worries me is if the script will actually hold up. Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsey-Abaire penned the screenplay.

Sam Raimi will take audiences to the land of Oz once more with Oz: The Great and Powerful, the prequel to The Wizard of Oz. The film reunites Raimi with his Spider-Man trilogy star James Franco, who plays Oscar Diggs, a sideshow magician who lifts off in a hot air balloon with dreams of making it big only to get caught in a storm and crash land in the mystical other world. Earlier this year we saw a trailer and a panel for the film at Comic-Con.

But before Disney can release a new trailer for the film, the studio has released a slew of new images that are sure to whet your Oz appetite. Check them out below.

A new poster has been released by Walt Disney for Oz: The Great and Powerful. This particular poster is of interest because it features none other than the Wicked Witch herself.

The movie is based on the works of L. Frank Baum, looking at some of his characters’ origins. It’s directed by The Evil Dead and Spider-Man trilogy director Sam Raimi, and stars James Franco, Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, and Zach Braff. It hits theaters on March 8, 2013.

In the wake of Jason Bourne’s dismantling of Operation Blackbriar, the CIA decides to dispose of their other black ops programs and terminate their remaining field agents.

Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner), a genetically-enhanced agent from Operation Outcome, escapes his execution and, with the reluctant help of Outcome scientist Dr. Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz), sets out to expose the atrocities of his superiors.

Directed by Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton), The Bourne Legacy is the fourth installment in the Bourne series, based on Robert Ludlum‘s spy-thriller novels. Gilroy’s film, however, is based off a 2004 novel by Eric Van Lustbader. With permission from the estate of Robert Ludlum, Lustbader picked up the Bourne series where Ludlum left off with 1990’s The Bourne Ultimatum. Since 2004, Lustbader has written seven additional Bourne novels – which means Universal Pictures has plenty of material to mine for future sequels.

The Bourne Legacy‘s plot begins about two-thirds of the way through The Bourne Ultimatum, intercutting non-Jason Bourne scenes from Ultimatum throughout the film to communicate that these events are happening simultaneously. When we first meet Cross, he’s on a training mission in the wilds of Alaska. The first act of the film feels like The Grey meets Cliffhanger, with Renner’s character traversing treacherous terrain, super-jumping chasms, and fist-fighting wolves.

You saw the trailer, a behind-the-scenes look, and heard director Sam Raimi (the Spider-Man and Evil Dead trilogies) talk about it at Comic-Con, but the Oz: The Great and Powerful wave hasn’t subsided.
