It’s being reported that Andrea Riseborough is in negotiations with Relativity Studios to join the cast of the long in development remake of the 1994 cult classic The Crow.
Assuming a deal gets all worked out and ink meets page Riseborough will play a villain in the movie, a character named Top Dollar, who was played in the original movie by Michael Wincott. The character was the main villain in the first movie, but is not in the graphic novel the movies are based on by James O’Barr.
It was only a month ago that Relativity Studios’ planned remake of the 1994 cult classic The Crow got a new director in Corin Hardy, who replaced F. Javier Gutierrez, who’d been on the project since 2012. Many names had come up for the lead role, iconically portrayed by Brandon Lee, who died while filming the movie. The Avengers’ Tom Hiddleston and True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard were both considered at one time, until Dracula Untold star Luke Evanssigned on for the role.
Now, Evans has reportedly left the film to pursue other projects, according to The Wrap, who added that Relativity declined to comment for their story.
A planned remake of the 1994 cult classic The Crow is still chugging along, bringing in a new director to work on the project.
For a while F. Javier Gutierrez was attached to direct, but he eventually moved on to the next installment in The Ring series. Now Relativity Studios has hired Corin Hardy to work on the remake.
