Though Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures has a five-year deal, the recent developments now being reported are starting to look like there is a huge strain between the two. First Universal passed on Kong: Skull Island, allowing Legendary to move the film, budgeted at $125 million, to Warner Bros., which now allows them to build a shared universe opening the door for a Godzilla vs. King Kong film. Then reports ofPacific Rim 2 being put on hold indefinitely broke, and it’s unclear if the studio wants to move forward with the sequel.
But it isn’t just these movies that are causing a strain between Universal and Legendary. Studio politics and a few films performing below box office expectations are contributing to some concerns over films like Warcraft. More on this story below.

Mary Shelley, Frankenstein
This is the line that intros the official trailer of the FOX series Lookinglass, due out in 2016. Lookinglass is a sci-fi show with horror and action undertones, about sibling geniuses who create the titular company. Mary (Dilshad Vadsaria) is dying of a rare form of cancer and needs a 1 in 10-million donor… which brings us to Jimmy (Philip Baker Hall). Jimmy Pritchard stumbles into a break in at his son’s house and is unceremoniously tossed off a bridge to his death… or so he thought.
FOX is continuing its recent trend of churning out sci-fi/horror themed shows with Lookinglass, premiering in 2016. Originally titled “The Frankenstein Code” the show crosses Shelley’s gothic story with elements of recent sci-fi film Self/less. In that film, older Ben Kingsley was put into the youthful corpse of Ryan Reynolds. Here disgraced Sheriff Jimmy Pritchard (Phillip Baker Hall) is killed after a botched break in at his son’s house only to be resurrected into the body of actor Rob Kazinksy (True Blood).
