Robert Eggers To Direct ‘The Northman’ Starring Alexander Skarsgard

For two films, Robert Eggers has terrified us with supernatural period pieces in the form of The Witch and The Lighthouse. But it looks like he will be stepping away from that for his next film. But that doesn’t mean he won’t have a stellar cast to work with.

According to new reports, he will be directing The Northman, a grounded revenge story, that will star Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Bill Skarsgård, and reunite him with his Witch star Anya Taylor-Joy and Lighthouse star Willem Dafoe. More on the report below.

You seriously have to love what A24 is able to put out time and time again. The studio pushes the boundaries of cinema with their collection of films, which are directed by visionaries and great storytellers.

Take for instance Robert Eggers, the man behind this year’s The Lighthouse. Shot entirely in black and white, this maritime fantasy horror is also a dark comedy that delves into the madness that two lighthouse men, played by Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, go into when they find themselves seeing strange and mysterious things on a remote New England island in the 1890s.

Anya Taylor-Joy To Reunite With ‘The Witch’ Director Robert Eggers For ‘Nosferatu’ Remake

We found out a couple of years back that The Witch director Robert Eggers was set to take on a remake of the 1922 silent classic Nosferatu.

Now it’s been announced that Eggers’ breakout star from The Witch, Anya Taylor-Joy, is in negotiations to reunite with him for the remake.

Written and directed by Robert Eggers, The Witch is an exquisitely crafted exercise in dread. Set in 17th century New England, the film stars Ralph Ineson as William, a Puritan farmer who, upon threat of banishment by the church, must leave his colonial plantation.

He relocates his wife, Katherine (Kate Dickie), and their children to a secluded plot of land on the edge of the wilderness. Unsettling things begin to happen “” the crops rot, goats give blood instead of milk, and the youngest child disappears as another becomes possessed by an unknown evil. With suspicion and paranoia mounting, the grief-stricken family accuses Thomasin (Anya Taylor-Joy), the oldest daughter, of witchcraft.
