Ever since Disney announced that there would be a live-action adaptation of their 1940’s animated feature Pinocchio, they haven’t been able to lock down a director. Sam Mendes (Skyfall) and Paul King (Paddington) are among the two directors that departed from the project for their own reasons, but it looks like the studio may have finally found someone to fill the spot. According to new reports, Robert Zemeckis is in talks to helm the project. More on the report below.
Following the news last month that Anne Hathaway will play the Grand High Witch in director Robert Zemeckis‘s new adaptation of the 1983 Roald Dahl book The Witches, comes word that fellow Oscar winner Octavia Spencer is in talks to join her on the cast. Earlier today we saw an official trailer for one of Spencer’s latest, a horror titled Ma.
In addition to Spencer joining the cast it’s also being reported that Jahzir Bruno and Codie-Lei Eastick are currently in negotiations for roles, and that Black-ish creator and writer of the upcoming Shaft and Coming to America sequels Kenya Barris will now be co-writing the screenplay with Zemeckis.
Back in June we found out that Back to the Future and Who Framed Roger Rabbit director Robert Zemeckiswould be directing the long-in-development new take on the Roald Dahl story The Witches. The story was previously adapted into the 1990 movie of the same name starring Anjelica Huston.
Now that adaptation has found its star. It’s being reported that Anne Hathaway has signed on to play the Grand High Witch in the movie, the same role Huston played in the ’90 version.
Dwayne Johnson has played plenty of great characters in the past, but none more personal than Maui in Moana, where he was able to be a part of a film that celebrated his South Pacific culture. Now he will get ready to do that again, but for a new movie.
New reports say he will play Hawaiian king Kamehameha in The King from director Robert Zemeckis. More on the story below.
Universal Pictures has released the second trailer for Welcome to Marwen starring Steve Carell as Mark, a photographer who is traumatized after being brutally beaten. The attack left Mark on the road to a very long recovery. But with the help of his loved ones and his creativity, Mark is able to find inner peace.
Now the story, which is based on a true story, is getting the big screen adaptation treatment with Robert Zemeckis at the helm to tell this story. Check out the full trailer below.
