Chloe Moretz may have had a lot of criminals’ blood on her hands in Kick-Ass, but she will have a different blood all over herself in the new adaptation of Stephen King’s horror story Carrie. The first of many marketing photos are actually starting off in a pretty big way, with Moretz wearing a prom dress covered in blood, which was the pinnacle scene in the original movie.

Are you excited by the thought of a brand new take on Little Shop of Horrors to hit the big screen? Well, one way or the other, it looks like it’s happening.
It’s being reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt, star of Inception and the upcoming super-sequel The Dark Knight Rises, is developing a new remake of Roger Corman’s 1960 comedy, The Little Shop of Horrors (which starred a one Mr. Jack Nicholson) for Warner Brothers.
It’s also likely that if the project comes to fruition, Gordon-Levitt would star in the role of Seymour.
A remake of the 1976 Stephen King adaptation, Carrie, has been in the works for a bit now, and a star is already in place with Kick-Ass and Let Me In star Chloe Moretz set for the lead role.
Equally important will be the casting of Carrie’s mother, whom it appears Columbia Pictures is looking to cast next. According to sources, the studio is “speaking closely” with four-time Academy Award nominee Julianne Moore for the role.
In the past two years alone she’s played an ass-kicking superhero and a blood-sucking vampire. Now it looks like Chloe Moretz has a date to a prom and a burning high school in her screen future.
The young actress, best known for playing Hit Girl in the violent action-comedy Kick-Ass as well as the haunting horror film Let Me In and most recently Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning 3D fantasy Hugo, has just been confirmed for the title role in the new film version of Carrie. Based on Stephen King‘s first novel published in 1974, Carrie was adapted for the screen in 1976 by filmmaker Brian DePalma with Sissy Spacek in the title role of a shy high school student who uses her emerging telekinetic powers to take revenge on her tormentors. Both Spacek and Piper Laurie, who played Carrie’s religious fanatic mother, earned Academy Award nominations for their performances.
