Steven Spielberg’s ‘Robopocalypse’ Delay Is Real, But Only For A Moment
  |  @   |

News of an indefinite delay on Steven Spielberg‘s Robopocalypse would have been devastating to the project, but it turns out the film might not be in that much trouble. With stars Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway set to begin filming in the Spring, slight problems with the Drew Goddard script, which is based on Daniel H. Wilson‘s popular sci-fi novel, prompted Spielberg and his team to halt production indefinitely until they could figure out the problems with it.

However, Spielberg says things have been blown out of proportion and even though the delay is real, the movie will commence production before too much time elapses.

The root of the problem was that the script was calling for a lot of money to be spend, so Spielberg wants to find a way to make a film with a more economically friendly script that is also more personal.

Steven Spielberg Courting ‘Cloud Atlas’ Star Ben Whishaw For ‘Robopocalypse’
  |  @   |

Following the news that Anne Hathaway will be starring opposite Chris Hemsworth in Steven Spielberg‘s adaptation of Robopocalypse, comes word that Cloud Atlas star Ben Whishaw is now being courted for a role in the film. The British actor, who also has a role in the upcoming James Bond film Skyfall, would play a hacker named Lurker.

Variety reports that no deal has been made, but the offer is on the table for Whishaw to take. Barring any scheduling conflicts, it would be hard for Whisaw to pass on a project with Spielberg at the helm. The director is expected to begin production later this year after he finishes his press rounds for Lincoln. Former 20th Century Fox chairman and CEO Tom Rothman will produce the film and Drew Goddard will write the screenplay adaptation.

In addition to these possible castings, there is confirmation that former 20th Century Fox chairman and CEO Tom Rothman will be a producer for Robopocalypse.

According to Deadline, the studio is tightlipped about any news concerning the casting of lead roles in Robopocalypse. But the fact that Hathaway and Hemsworth could share the silver screen is an exciting thought. Fox and Dreamworks Teaming Up For Steven Spielberg’s ‘Robopocalypse’
  |

Who better to force two studios to team up than one Steven Spielberg.

According to THR, both Fox and DreamWorks will be co-financing Spielberg’s upcoming sci-fi film, Robopocalypse. The film will be hitting theaters on July 3, 2013, and will be based on the novel penned by Daniel H. Wilson.

The story follows “the fate of the human race following a robot uprising,” and while the premise may sound cliche, the idea of Spielberg jumping back into the world of sci-fi action films really makes this one project to keep a huge eye on.
