  |

As 2016 comes to close and we settling into the first few weeks into 2017, it’s time to go through my list of movies I saw in 2016 and pick the ten best titles. This year’s total was 69 new movies, and for those new to my lists, that includes all new movies, no matter when they came out. It took a few passes, but I finally have my top ten, so sit back and grab some popcorn, because here comes my top ten movies of 2016…

‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Editors Reveal Which Scenes Were Part Of The Reshoots
  |  @   |

As many of you recall, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story went through a series of reshoots last summer. During the course of that time, many were concerned about the timing of these reshoots and script rewrites. Naturally, big budget blockbusters like Rogue One will go through reshoots just to work out any issues the film may have. In the long run, these reshoots helped the film, as it quickly became the third highest grossing film of 2016 in just a matter of a few short weeks.

Now the subject of these reshoots has popped up again, as many are wondering what scenes were reshot and what scenes were rewritten. Of course, now is the perfect time to ask about it considering that the film is practically behind us. Find out more about what Rogue One editors John Gilroy and Colin Goudie had to say about those scenes in the full story below.

Empress Eve’s Top 10 Favorite Movies Of 2016
  |  @   |

Now that 2016 is behind us, it’s time for me to reveal my favorite Movies of 2016. On a global level, the year 2016 will go down in history as a difficult one, where we lost a lot of talented people and there seemed to be an overall negativity in the air (thanks in part to the general election here in the U.S). On a personal level, 2016 was not only difficult, but sorrowful, as I lost my father to cancer. My dad loved movies, and every time we got together, we would discuss the films we had recently seen. Dad got sick early in the year, so we didn’t get to have our usual movie pow-wows.

My top movies are always of the blockbuster, superhero, scifi/fantasy variety, with some comedies sprinkled in, because I like to rewatch movies, so I tend to pick more uplifting titles as “favorites” — therefore, I’m not saying my list is of the “best” movies, they are just the ones I enjoyed the most and will likely rewatch to my heart’s content.

Watch This Fan-Made Opening Crawl For ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’
  |  @   |

The recently released Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first of a series of live-action standalone features, not part of the Star Wars “Episodes.” Therefore, the filmmakers decided to leave out the usual opening crawl, an iconic part of all seven previous films, beginning with the original 1977 Star Wars (Episode IV: A New Hope).

Many fans feel an opening crawl is a necessity for a Star Wars film, and in the case of Rogue One, which tells the story of the team of Rebels who stole the plans for the Death Star that led to the events of A New Hope, it would have been helpful to show where this tale fits into the timeline. (Basically, it’s “Episode 3.5.)

Now, a fan has created an opening crawl for Rogue One using an online Star Wars “Intro Creator” tool. Watch the video for it here below.
