  |  @   |

The release date for director Robert Rodriguez‘s Alita: Battle Angel has been pushed back for far too long. But now it looks like it has finally settled on a release date. Though the film was set for a December release, it’s new date does give us a chance to get a better idea of what the film is.

While most know it as an adaptation of the manga of the same name, Alita’s Pinocchio-esque story is expected to be action-packed and thrilling, as noted by the very exciting new trailer. In the film, the world is coming to an end. But there are no zombies. No apes. Not even a flu. But there are aliens. Just not the kind you’d expect to see. This time, these aliens manifest themselves into the onlooker’s greatest fear. And it gets to a point when the person kills themselves. So the only way to survive is to have blindfolds on so you don’t see them. All of that makes for a very interesting take on character survival. Check out the trailer below.

20th Century Fox has released the second trailer for Alita: Battle Angel. The first trailer for the movie was released late last year.

The movie, which stars Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley, and Keean Johnson, has been in the works for a while now, with Aliens, Terminator 2, Titanic, and Avatar director James Cameron attached to the project for nearly two decades now. Cameron ultimately wasn’t able to direct the movie, with his multiple Avatar sequels on the way, so Sin City and From Dusk Till Dawn director Robert Rodriguez took over that role. Cameron did, however, pen the screenplay along with Laeta Kalogridis and Rodriguez.

  |  @   |

Alita: Battle Angel has been one of James Cameron‘s long-gestating projects. The adaptation has taken somewhat of a backseat with Cameron focusing on his Avatar sequels. Despite the filmmaker declaring that the film would have to be pried out of his cold dead hands, it has been given to Robert Rodriguez – much to Cameron’s approval.

With Rodriguez in the driver’s seat, the film can proceed that much closer to production, and it seems as they are close to finding an actress to play the lead role. According to new reports, Maika Monroe, Zendaya, Rosa Salazar, and Bella Thorne are the new frontrunners for the title role. More on the story below.
