Directed by Shawn Levy (Real Steel, Netflix’s Stranger Things), Free Guy stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) as Guy, a bank teller who discovers he is actually an NPC (non-player character) in a popular video game and decides to become the hero of his own story.
Since Joker arrived in theaters at the beginning of this month, it’s been on quite a tear at the box office. This past weekend the movie passed $800 million worldwide, and topped both Deadpool and Deadpool 2 as the new highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time in the process.
As has become customary when a movie beats another movie’s record at the box office, congratulations were in order. And with Ryan Reynolds being the star of the Deadpool franchise, you knew it was going to be a good one. Reynolds sent out a tweet offering congratulations, and did so in a completely fitting way for the new R-rated champ. You can see what he shared below.
A new adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol is on the way. This one will be a musical, with Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell set to star.
Now this latest take on A Christmas Carol has a home. After a bidding war which included Netflix, Warner Bros., and Paramount all making offers to acquire the movie, it was Apple who ultimately won the project and is now in final negotiations to complete the acquisition. And it sounds like they dropped some big money on the table to pass all other bidders.
Back in January of 2018 we found out that Ryan Reynolds was developing a new movie based on the Hasbro board game Clue at 20th Century Fox, with his Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick in talks to pen the screenplay.
Now that movie may have found its director. Jason Bateman, who has starred in Arrested Development, Juno, Horrible Bosses, the Netflix series Ozark, and much more, has entered into early negotiations to direct Clue for Fox (and now Disney).
