  |  @   |

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the Avatar sequels. What was once something that was gestating has now completed production.

While we know that Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephan Lang are all set to return and reprise their respective roles, Edie Falco will be joining the film as a mysterious new character who has ties to a rather shady group with possibly nefarious intentions for Pandora. Last month, release dates for the four sequels were set again, with the first now scheduled for release in 2020—11 years after the original was released. And now a new actor has joined the cast. I’m not one for the over-dramatized, based on a true story kind of movie. But for most of them, there is something special and inspirational that makes me want to know more about the subject’s story. Case in point, Hacksaw Ridge.

Now I didn’t know anything about Desmond Doss’ harrowing story of how he refused to take up arms during World War II, but ended up saving multiple lives during the Battle of Okinawa. But to see it on the big screen was something else. The fact that it was also directed by Mel Gibson did add some concern to it, given his outrageous behavior and reputation. Still, the film managed to meet my expectations. Check out my review below.
