The movie was a huge hit, making nearly half a billion dollars worldwide, and it has now been confirmed that a sequel is officially in the works.

New Line is developing the sequel, and has hired the writing duo of Neil Widener and Gavin James to work on the screenplay. Carlton Cuse penned the first movie’s screenplay based on a story by Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore. Additionally, the cast of the first movie including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, and Paul Giamatti are all expected to return for the sequel.
