‘SNL’: Dwayne Johnson In Disney’s Live-Action Bambi (Video)
  |  @   |

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson did his fourth stint hosting Saturday Night Live last night, where he starred in one of their digital shorts centering on a new Disney film. With Disney riding the live-action train lately with Maleficent, the recent Cinderella, and the upcoming Beauty and the Beast, now comes the adaptation we’ve all been waiting for — Bambi.

Johnson appears as the title character, with his Furious 7 cast mates rounding out the rest of the beloved lineup — Vin Diesel (Taran Killam) as Thumper, Tyrese Gibson (Jay Pharoah) as Flower, and Michelle Rodriguez (Cecily Strong) as Faline, and it’s about to get real.

Check out the Bambi sequence here below, along with several others featuring The Rock.

‘SNL’: Chris Hemsworth Joins ‘Empire’; Raps For Iggy Azalea Show & more (Video)
  |  @   |

Thor star Chris Hemsworth hosted this week’s Saturday Night Live, where he portrayed his on-screen superhero counterpart in the hilarious skit Avengers News Report. While the Aussie actor is best known for his action roles, he killed it in the comedy department in sketches that had him joining the cast of FOX’s hip hop drama Empire; rapping on “The Iggy Azalea Show,” and as the part of the crew of the S.S. Orion, a starship captained by a chicken.

Check out the videos for the aforementioned skits and more from the SNL episode here below.

Hemsworth did a great job with this foray into live comedy and throughout the show the writers took advantage of the actor’s status as a buff, beautiful, irresistible star (see the American Express ad – it says it all), which made the part where he professes his love to the chicken insanely funny. They also were smart enough to get him shirtless at least once – oh, and to bring out the other Hemsworth brothers during the Monologue (brother Liam is a star of The Hunger Games). In “Empire Promo,” Hemsworth plays the token white guy, Chip, the new office manager — they totally, perfectly nailed the FOX drama (I loved the “dripity drop” part the best) and in “The Iggy Azalea Show,” he raps along with Kate McKinnon’s spot-on impression of Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea.

‘SNL’: The Avengers Celebrate Victory Over Ultron (Video)
  |  @   |

Chris Hemsworth, best known for his big-screen portrayal of Thor in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, was the host for this week’s Saturday Night Live, where he put aside his action-hero stance to display his comedic chops.

The actor is one of the headline stars of Marvel’s highly anticipated Avengers: Age Of Ultron, which, this Summer, will see The Avengers team — Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, and more — face off against Ultron and his army.

The sketch showed the massive Hemsworth in his mighty Thor attire, Mjolnir in hand, in New York City celebrating The Avengers’ victory over Ultron just minutes before while a news reporter tries to interview him live.

‘SNL’: ‘Star Trek’ Leonard Nimoy Tribute; Dakota Johnson’s Parents & more (Video)
  |  @   |

During last night’s Saturday Night Live, hosted by Fifty Shades Of Grey star Dakota Johnson, the show paid tribute to the late Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy, who passed away on Friday.

In a sketch titled “Emergency Room,” Kenan Thompson pays a doctor who gets called into work straight from a Trek convention dressed as Worf, the Klingon security chief from Star Trek: The Next Generation. At the end of the skit, Dr. Worf gives the Vulcan salute — the signal made famous by Nimoy’s Mr. Spock — before the screen showed an image of Nimoy in the original series giving the salute. (While Nimoy was known as part of the original Star Trek series, he did have a notable guest-star spot on TNG.)

Watch the sketch here below, along with other highlight videos from the episode.

SNL 40 After Party Jam: Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, Jimmy Fallon, Prince (Video)
  |  @   |

We pretty much kept you up to date on Sunday night into Monday morning with our SNL 40 coverage. NBC broadcast the 3 1/2-hour Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special, which featured some of today’s biggest celebrities, past show hosts, past and present cast members, and musical guests. Amongst the returning cast members was Jimmy Fallon, current host of NBC’s The Tonight Show. Fallon and pal Justin Timberlake did a cold open rap to kick off the show, and Fallon was highlighted in several flashback reels.

On Monday night’s episode of The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, which, like SNL, is recorded from the studios at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, the host reminisced about the amazing night. Along with red carpet arrivals, there was also an after-party that featured some all-star jams, including one Fallon did with Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney, as well as a mind-blowing appearance by Prince.

Check out the 9-minute video here below of Fallon talking about the After Party, as well as some snippets from the various jam sessions, which included Fallon, Swift, and McCartney doing The Beatles “I Saw Her Standing There” and Swift’s recent hit “Shake It Off.” There’s also Instagram video of Bill Murray playing tambourine; Prince doing “Let’s Go Crazy,” and the B-52’s doing “Love Shack.”
