When it was announced that Lionsgate would be rebootingSaw based on an original idea from Chris Rock, most laughed at the idea. But the franchise will be bringing back some key players. The original creators of the franchise, James Wan and Leigh Whannell, executive produce alongside Daniel Heffner and Rock. Additionally, Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV, would be helming. And Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, who penned the last entry of the Saw franchise, would be writing the script.
Now the reboot, which promises take the horror series to an “intense and twisted new place,” is adding some major star power. According to new reports, Glass and Spider-Man: Far From Home star Samuel L. Jackson will be joining the cast. More on the report below.
Like a good horror villain, the Saw franchise refuses to die.
It’s been announced that the franchise is being rebooted with a new entry in 2020, and someone quite unexpected is behind its resurrection: Chris Rock. Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have teamed up with Rock for the reboot, which he says will take the horror series to an “intense and twisted new place.”
Recently we found out that a new movie in the Saw franchise was on the way, and that it would be titled Jigsaw.
Now Lionsgate has released the first trailer for the eighth movie in the franchise, and the first since what was once said to be the series’ last entry, Saw: The Final Chapter way back in 2010. You can see how the new movie looks below.
Did you think the Saw franchise was going to die with the seventh movie, as it once seemed like it might? No, of course you didn’t. No one did. Plus, its return has been whispered about for some time now. The franchise did remain sleeping, to its credit, for longer than expected. But now it is ready to rise from its seven-year slumber.
Lionsgate has confirmed an official title for the next movie in the series, as well as a release date. You can find both below.
