The weather is getting warmer. The school year is winding down. That can mean only one thing… it’s time for another Sharknado!!! And Syfy will not disappoint, releasing the fourth installment in its laughably bad, but epically awesome series appropriately titled “The 4th Awakens.” Directed once again by Anthony C. Ferrante, the usual suspects return led by Ian Ziering as Fin Shepard. After Los Angeles, New York, and Orlando, where else would a Sharknado hit… well the desert of course… it’s viva Las Vegas for the CG sharks!
Check out the teaser for Sharknado: The 4th Awakens below.
That’s right, folks, after Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! premiered last night (read our review right here), and at the end of the movie-ish mish-mash of moving imagery it was revealed that Sharknado 4 is indeed on the way. You’re not at all shocked, are you? I can feel it. I can feel your lack of shock radiating from my computer screen right now, long before this is fully written and any other human eyes read it. But hey, when one of these wacky, nonsensical carnival freak show productions Syfy and The Asylum are known for catches on as big as the Sharknado movies have, they’re going to make as many of them as they possibly can.
The announcement came with a bit of a twist, as well. At the end of Sharknado 3 (spoiler alert…I guess), some space shuttle wreckage is heading right for April Wexler (played by Tara Reid) before it cuts to black. This is where the fans come in, as they’ll use the hashtags #AprilLives or #AprilDies to decided whether the character will survive in Sharknado 4.
The cast and crew talked about the ending, including Reid and co-star Ian Ziering. You can see what they had to say below.

The day is here, the time is now… it’s time for SHARKNADO 3!!! This actually means a lot more to me than the normal schmo watching Syfy original movies. Last year around this time, Sharknado 2: The Second One was my first review for GoD. The movie that became a twitter sensation thanks to its ridiculous (even for Syfy) title and plot, helping to resurrected the careers for 90s stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid. It gained such a quick cult status that A – D list stars, including athletes, talk show hosts, rappers, and politicians were lining up for cameos in the sequels. Without further ado… the day we’ve all waited patiently for… Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!
The Summer of the Shark continues! Weeks after Discovery Channel finished up another thrilling Shark Week, and days after World Champion surfer Mitch Fanning got attacked by a Great White ON CAMERA, it’s finally time to culminate the greatest trilogy ever… that’s right… it’s SHARKNADO TIME!!! In preparation for Wednesday night’s debut of Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No, Syfy is running the gamut of its giant, mutant, sea creature movies in marathon form. Titles such as Sharktopus vs. Whalewolf, Zombie Shark, 3-Headed Shark Attack, and Mega Shark Vs Kolossus will help you beat the summer heat on the couch. Just grab some friends and lotsa beer.
In case you forgot how everything got started, watch the helpful videos below.
Sharks! Sharks everywhere! If I could’ve bought stock in shark before this summer, I’d be rich right now. First Jaws, the original summer blockbuster turned 40. Coincidentally, or maybe not, there were numerous shark attacks reported in the Carolina area making national news. And of course, we are smack-dab in the middle of Discovery Channel’s annual smorgasbord of shark related science (and occasional fiction) known as Shark Week.
Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! could not have picked a better time to come out. Now we get a couple of “behind the shark” videos to prep us for the oncoming storms.
