The God List: Comics for December 31, 2014

Each and every week, I, “Is this your favorite holiday?” Henchman 21 and “New Year’s” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of December 31, 2014. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone! There is hardly anything out today, what with the holiday and it being a fifth Wednesday of the month, but what is coming out is pretty cool so you should try to get to a store today and pick up some of the books being offered today. Besides, you’ll want something to do tomorrow while you rest off your hangover, and what better way to ring in the new year than read some comics. Let’s drop the ball on The GoD List!

ABC Greenlights Marvel’s ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Pilot; Joss Whedon To Co-Write, Possibly Direct

Up until two years ago Joss Whedon was a beloved cult figure among fans of terrific science-fiction, horror, and comic books who still had to fight tooth and nail to see his creative visions make it to screens both big and small as unmolested as Hollywood would allow. Cut to last May and his epic take on Marvel’s mighty superhero cadre The Avengers rakes in more than a billion dollars in global box office. Now Whedon has become Marvel Studios’ personal génie en résidence; three weeks ago he officially signed on to write and direct the inevitable Avengers sequel, and a day after that news broke came the development that Whedon would be contributing creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe, including overseeing production of a television series for ABC based on Marvel characters.

It looks like ABC, Marvel, and Whedon have decided to waste no more time figuring out who the new TV series will revolve around, as the network has ordered a pilot for S.H.I.E.L.D..

Geek Gear: S.H.I.E.L.D. Shirt ‘Company Picnic’

The t-shirt deal of the day over at RIPT Apparel today is the Avengers-inspired shirt S.H.I.E.L.D. shirt called “Company Picnic” by artist johnbj wilson.

The shirt went on sale at RIPT today, Sunday, July 24, 2011, at midnight CST, and will continue for 24 hours from then, and once it’s over, it will not be sold on the site anymore.
