Release date: October 8, 2019
Since the beginning of time, humans have had an insatiable thirst for forbidden knowledge, and even though history has shown we’ve gotten into a lot of trouble for it, still our quest to learn more continues. That’s probably why Adams Media has continued to release new installments in their Forbidden Knowledge line of books for over a decade now.
This time around, author Owen Brooks has compiled instructions for 101 Things No One Should Know How to Do, which is basically a simplified survival guide for unlikely and/or preposterous scenarios, several of which are also dangerous and sometimes criminal. Some is stuff you shouldn’t have to know, but just in case, it tells you what to do.

When Khan said he’d chase Captain James T. Kirk “”˜round the Antares Maelstrom” in the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, audiences knew nothing about this galactic whirlpool. Presumably, it was a dangerous area to circumnavigate if the genetically enhanced supervillain name-checked it like that, but that’s all anyone has had to go by for the last 37 years. Now, we’re finally getting a look at the famed location in The Antares Maelstrom, a new Star Trek: The Original Series novel from Greg Cox.

In 2009, a suicide obsessed killer drove a Mercedes-Benz through a crowd of unemployed, waiting for a job fair to open up, murdering and maiming as many as he could. Retired cop Bill Hodges obsessed about catching “Mr. Mercedes,” cannot stop the chase. With the help of a young boy and a a woman with “graying hair and the face of a neurotic teenager,” the trio managed to put the killer, Brady Hartsfield, down and in a coma. Mr. Mercedes was riveting excitement on every page. Finders Keepers, puts Hartsfield’s story on hold as Hodges, Jerome, and Holly reunite to save a boy from an author-obsessed lunatic killer. Although it strayed from the first novel, the connecting tendrils satisfied that basic reader need. Now, in End of Watch, Brady Hartsfield is awake and plotting, and it’s up to Hodges and the gang to stop him.
