A Peek At Beast’s Castle At Disney World’s New Fantasyland
  |  @   |

If you’ve been to the Magic Kingdom at Disney World in Florida recently, you’ve seen that the Fantasyland area is under heavy construction — that’s because the area is currently undergoing a major expansion that will nearly double the size of the original Fantasyland.

One of the main objectives of the expansion is to add a whole bunch of new Beauty and the Beast-themed attractions, eateries, and architecture, including Beast’s Castle!

Check out the image here below, via Disney Parks Blog, that provides a sneak peek of Beast’s Castle, which will house the Be Our Guest restaurant, scheduled to open in late 2012. The restaurant is said to “offer a lavish dining experience in the castle’s elegant ballroom, gallery and mysterious “west-wing.” Eventually, other Beauty and the Beast-themed buildings will open around the Castle, like Gaston’s Tavern, Bonjour! Village Gifts, and the cottage of Belle’s father, Maurice. And of course, there will be a meet-and-greet with Belle and her friends.

A few days ago, we posted a sneak peek photo unveiled by Disney of actress Olivia Wilde being made up to look like the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves with the headline, What’s Olivia Wilde Up To With Disney?.

We had a few guesses as to what Wilde was up to, one of which was the possibility of her being involved in a new series of Disney Dream Portraits by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. Turns out, that’s exactly what it was.

Disney Parks Blog has revealed the new photo series, which takes well-known celebrities and transforms them into the role of famous Disney characters, all with stunning background scenery. See all three images from the new series here below.

MUST SEE: Hilarious Thai Ripoffs Of Disney’s ‘Beauty And The Beast,’ ‘Snow White,’ ‘Aladdin’ & More
  |  @   |

Now this is a treat.

Our friends over at /Film discovered a gem while searching the internet recently. To be specific, they discovered a trailer for a little movie called Beauty and the Beast. The only problem is, this was not our beloved Walt Disney classic, it was a new version of the movie completely ripped off by Thai company GM Toons. Even their opening logo is fairly similar to Disney’s.

The trailer is funny beyond all words; it’s identical to Beauty and the Beast, only the animation looks like a Saturday Morning Cartoon nightmare. Add to that some atrocious voice acting and you have yourself a wonderfully amusing little viral video in the making. Even better than that is the fact that the Beast in this mess happens to also look an awful lot like a certain character from The Lion King. And it doesn’t end there. There’s a pile of these ripoffs to be seen.

Click on over to the other side to see the trailer for this movie and many more now!

Brett Ratner To Produce Live-Action Update Of ‘Snow White’
  |  @   |

As was completely expected, Disney classics and fairy tale reinventions are continuing to grow toward being the next big craze.

Alice in Wonderland of course got a new live-action/motion-capture makeover and Johnny Depp, and went on to pull down over a billion dollars worldwide. Since then, we’ve heard that a new take on the evil Sleeping Beauty villain called Maleficent was on the way, and that a new live-action take on the tale of Cinderella was in motion as well.

Now comes word via Deadline that a brand new version of Snow White is now in the making. Relativity Media has preemptively acquired the rights to The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, which is a script penned by Melisa Wallack (Bill). The script is said to be a lot more faithful to the 500-year-old folk tale that Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was based on, and that it will be much more edgy and funnier.
