Golden Earring‘s “Radar Love”; The Button Down Brass‘ “Tequila”; Martha and the Vandellas‘ “Nowhere To Run”; and Incredible Bongo Band‘s “Bongolia”: these are just a few of the songs that can be heard in the trailers for Edgar Wright‘s Baby Driver. Since the film made its festival debut earlier this year at SXSW, critics have been feeding the hype machine, going as far as saying it is one of the best movies of the year.
Judging by the looks of the trailers and featurettes, it’s easy to see why. The action in Baby Driver practically syncs up to the music. And I say practically because I haven’t seen it yet. But if you are a fan of amazing soundtracks, then the newly released tracklist for the film’s soundtrack should have your attention. Check out which songs made the cut, below.
A new rock-packed soundtrack for next month’s Marvel super-team spectacular The Avengers is scheduled for release three days before the movie opens (you can pre-order Avengers Assemblehere), but no U.S. date has been set for a release of the film’s orchestral score composed by Alan Silvestri.
Amazon’s UK site has the Avengers score being released on April 20 and has posted brief snippets from all 18 tracks of the album. You can check out a preview of Silvestri’s score here.
It is exactly what you would expect an Alan Silvestri score for a grand-scale summer blockbuster to be, a rousing action score meant to generate excitement and radiate emotion. I can’t wait to hear the score in its entirety and see it matched to the Joss Whedon-director superhero adventure on the biggest of movie screens.
Steven Spielberg‘s motion-capture animated spectacular The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn won’t be released in theaters until around Christmas, but now you can listen to snippets of the music score by John Williams online at the German website Cinema Musica.
There will be 18 tracks in all on the U.S. release and the Cinema Musica article features brief cuts from each track. The score sounds absolutely wonderful, sprighty old school Williams adventure music with an airy European touch.

Release Date: May 3, 2011
One of the things I love most about seeing a movie for the first time is experiencing its music score. I have many favorites but the ones that affect me the most are the great adventure scores, from Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s jaunty and propulsive The Adventures of Robin Hood to John Williams’ endlessly hum-worthy Raiders of the Lost Ark. The best of these scores tend to plant themselves deep in my mind and always pipe up at moments when I need those sounds the most and my MP3 player is nowhere to be found. They calm my soul and motivate me to conquer each of life’s challenges, be they minor or potentially life-threatening, with a hearty laugh and my arms jutted forward like I could take off flying at any moment.
