Chokehold The Final War #3 Paperback | Kindle
Written by David Moody
Publisher: St. Martin’s Griffin
Release Date: November 19, 2019
Maybe it’s simply due to having already read One Of Us Will Be Dead By Morning and All Roads End Here, the previous two novels in David Moody‘s The Final War trilogy; or maybe it’s because I’ve gotten used to the raw carnage of his post-apocalyptic horror world; or maybe it has to do with Moody’s unique – yet still quite natural – format of storytelling in which each novel has a completely different feel; whatever the reason may be, whatever special circumstances set the third and final novel apart from its predecessors, there is no doubt that I absolutely loved Chokehold.
I have not read the previous two books in this series. There, I got that out before I start reviewing The Reckoning. Also, I am quite aware that this is the third and final book in the Dark Storm series from Kris Greene. So what I have to say is based around all of these facts and my own personal opinion. Keep reading, if you dare.
A couple of years ago, I reviewed an anthology about a covert operative named Joe Ledger. This particular collection of short stories, called Joe Ledger: Unstoppable, was written by a variety of authors but edited by the character’s creator, Jonathan Maberry. I loved the supernatural twists within that book but I was aware, even then, that these were unusual for this protagonist who is more tactical and paramilitary oriented. Having said that, when I was given an opportunity to read and review this newest release, Rage, I leapt at the chance. Joe Ledger has that effect on readers.

When I first read the description of David Moody’sAll Roads End Here, I have to say that I was very intrigued. The summary sounds like a wildly unique take on zombie fiction, and if I’m being completely honest, I love zombie fiction. So in order to fully prepare myself for the novel and this review, I read the first installment in this series, One Of Us Will Be Dead By Morning. After having read two of Moody’s novels set in his “Hater” universe (there’s another trilogy that takes place during the events of this series), I can say without a doubt in my mind that this is the scariest version of a “zombie” tale that I have ever read.
Happy Halloween, boos and ghouls! What better way to celebrate this most haunted of holidays than with a bit of the supernatural…in book form, of course. I present to you the one and only Joe Ledger: Unstoppable. This anthology of supernatural suspense and horrific thrills is based around the detective, government clean up guy, and all around badass: Mr. Joe Ledger. Known for his paranormal and supernatural excursions, our hero is never afraid to make sure the buck stops here. As a matter of fact, he has plenty of ways to make sure the dead stay that way, or at least they will after a few tries.
