Paramount has struggled to get Star Trek 4 up and running, so the film has been hanging out in development hell for a while.
Now it looks like they’re ready to bring the film back with the original crew from the rebooted series including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, and Karl Urban, and with Lucy In The Sky director Noah Hawley writing and helming the sequel. More on the report below.
There may not be any engaging happening in Star Trek 4 for franchise stars Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth. The two actors, the former of whom is a headline star in the J.J. Abrams rebooted Trek universe, have reportedly exited negotiations over a salary dispute.
Plans for a fourth film have been in the works since 2016’s Star Trek Beyond, where it was announced that Hemsworth would be back. While there have been some positive signs that the film was going in the right direction, this latest development puts the entire sequel in question. More on the story here below.

Star Trek Beyond hits theaters this weekend and will make its big outdoor IMAX debut at the San Diego Comic-Con. As exciting as that sounds, it’s no surprise that Paramount Pictures would take this time to announced that there will be another sequel. It shows just how confident they are in Justin Lin‘s film. While we can speculate what happens in the sequel, the studio has confirmed that Chris Hemsworth will return to reprise his role as George Kirk, who was temporary captain of the doomed ship that was destroyed in the 2009 reboot, Star Trek.
