It’s been no secret that Disney CEO Bob Iger isn’t expectingRogue One: A Star Wars Story to have the same opening numbers that Star Wars: The Force Awakens had. Still, from an optimistic point of view, it could have stellar numbers because it is a part of the Star Wars franchise and the first of the many spinoffs we will get throughout the coming years.
Now box office projection numbers are coming in, and it puts Rogue One‘s opening numbers pretty high. According to reports, they could be as high as $130 million. More on the story below.
Before the year comes to an end, Disney and Lucasfilm will release Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first spinoff in the Star Wars cinematic franchise. It seems fitting that the film will center on the untold story of how a group of rebels obtain the plans to the Death Star. We’ve seen plenty of trailers showing us just how different the tone will be from the saga films. Director Gareth Evans takes audiences to a ground war, where rebels and stormtroopers battle through all sorts of terrain whether that’s in the slums or storming the beaches.
Now, just a few weeks before the film is released, we are getting another trailer. And this isn’t just a compilation of scenes we have seen before. It’s an international trailer and there is all sorts of new footage to check out. One thing that stands out is the fact that Jyn is holding what looks like a Kyber crystal. Check it out below.
Following the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘s ensemble poster and final trailer comes the release of character posters for Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn), Chirrut ÃŽmwe (Donnie Yen), K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), with Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen) and Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker).
Following the release of the final poster for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Disney has unveiled the final trailer for the highly anticipated film. The story follows a band of rebels, led by Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) as they attempt to steal the plans to the Death Star. Based on the look of the poster alone, one could say that this will be a very diverse film lead by a strong female character.
As previous trailers have suggested, the first Star Wars spinoff will bring a ground-war perspective to the franchise. Now this latest trailer reinforces that notion. Check it out below.
