Lucasfilm Says ‘Star Wars’ Spinoffs Are Not On Hold As Rumored
  |  @   |

Last week there was a report from Collider that said the Star Wars spinoffs were being put on hold. The news came after Solo: A Star Wars Story‘s reported inability to meet certain box office expectations. As a result, this put the multiple planned spinoffs on pause. But plans for The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson’s new trilogy and the series of movies from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were to continue to be developed.

However, it appears now that the spinoffs are back on, or merely they were never actually put on hold. A new report says Lucasfilm is still actively developing anthology films for the Star Wars universe. This includes films for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Boba Fett. More on the story here below.

Watch This Fan-Made Opening Crawl For ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’
  |  @   |

The recently released Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first of a series of live-action standalone features, not part of the Star Wars “Episodes.” Therefore, the filmmakers decided to leave out the usual opening crawl, an iconic part of all seven previous films, beginning with the original 1977 Star Wars (Episode IV: A New Hope).

Many fans feel an opening crawl is a necessity for a Star Wars film, and in the case of Rogue One, which tells the story of the team of Rebels who stole the plans for the Death Star that led to the events of A New Hope, it would have been helpful to show where this tale fits into the timeline. (Basically, it’s “Episode 3.5.)

Now, a fan has created an opening crawl for Rogue One using an online Star Wars “Intro Creator” tool. Watch the video for it here below.

Wait, How Many Actors Auditioned For The Young Han Solo Spinoff?
  |  @   |

It’s not going to be easy to find the right actor to play the role of Han Solo in the untitled young Han Solo spinoff film from The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord. Despite that overwhelming challenge to cast the right person, if anyone can do it those two can.

But how can you find someone who can be as charismatic, suave, and dashing as Han Solo? This is a massive project after all, and the character is a fan favorite amongst the Star Wars community, so it’s not like you can just make a shortlist and hope that you find the right person from said list. So Disney and Lucasfilm is going through great lengths to find the perfect actor to play the legendary smuggler, so much so that the rumored number of actors who are auditioning for the role have reached more than 2,500. Check out the full story below.

‘Star Wars: Rogue One’: Will Deceased Actor Peter Cushing Return Using CGI?
  |  @   |

We’ve heard about it in the past, using the many existing images and footage of deceased stars to bring them back to life using digital effects for roles in future movies. Debates have been had. Would you want to see Humphrey Bogart make an appearance in a new movie someday? It’s already happening in the music world with the likes of Tupac Shakur and Michael Jackson.

Now a new report claims that there are plans in the works to bring Peter Cushing back to life using digital effects for the upcoming Star Wars standalone spinoff/prequel Rogue One. Cushing played Grand Moff Tarkin in the original trilogy, and passed away at the age of 81 in 1994. The character appeared in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith, but played by Wayne Pygram.
