Last time on The Magicians, the whole gang decided to rob a bank because… money. The bank had magic wards to get through. Margo (Summer Bishil) led the charge, and it took bees, a literal disco ball, and Eliot (Hale Appleman) dying (not totally) to get the gold. Julia’s (Stella Maeve) baby was exorcised at a price and Fillory filled its coffers.

Last time on The Magicians, Quentin (Jason Ralph) tried to summon Niffin Alice (Olivia Taylor Dudley), first via interpretive dance, and then with a spell with her dad. That failed as did the attempt with her mother. He discovered that Alice isn’t dead, just living in the tattoo on his back. Prince Ess from Loria kidnaped the castle once Margo (Summer Bishil) rejected his order of giving him half the wellspring and then marriage. She slept with him and mulled the offer until Penny (Arjun Gupta) showed them that it was a trick. She declared war on Loria. Julia found a woman who also had Raynard’s baby because of rape, and she chained Julia up. Kady (Jade Tailor) saved her and they stole the creature, a Haxenpaxen, who was chained too shielding the lady’s whereabouts. Once gone, Raynard found her and killed her.

Last week on The Magicians, Margo helped Eliot (Summer Bishil, Hale Appleman) make a clone so his consciousness could go back to Brakebills. He ended up having sex in 2 worlds. Q and Penny (Jason Ralph, Arjun Gupta) hunted and caught the White Lady, after getting high and almost forgetting themselves in the Flying Forest. Q asked for Alice (Olivia Taylor Dudley) to be resurrected, but that could not happen, So he then asked to go home. Penny asked for hands – granted.

Last week on The Magicians, it was the showcase showdown for the Beast (Charles Mesure) and Reynard (Mackenzie Astin), and everything got totally messed up… except for one super heroic sacrifice by Alice (Olivia Taylor Dudley). Marina (Kacey Rohl), Julia (Stella Maeve), and the Beast got Reynard right where they wanted him, but then Penny (Arjun Gupta) swooped in and stole the beast (and Julia by accident). Marina was left alone with Reynard, and he literally chewed her up and spit her out. Back in Fillory, Ember (Dominic Burgess) took a dump in the wellspring, and the gang fought the Beast. Alice let herself be consumed so she could kill him, and Quentin (Jason Ralph) had to release his fire demon on her to prevent her from destroying Eliot and Margo (Hale Appleman, Summer Bishil).

Last week on The Magicians, Eliot (Hale Appleman) had to confess about his farmer past to his wife, once he found out that they needed help in that area (people were starving). The Beast (Charles Mesure) serenaded Julia (Stella Maeve) while she tried to figure out a way to get to Reynard. The bait they needed, Marina (Kacey Rohl) tried to find sanctuary at Brakebills, but was rejected. She went back to Julia. Quentin, Alice, Margo, and Penny (Jason Ralph, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Summer Bishil, Arjun Gupta), sought battle magic which would ready them for the Beast, complete with tattoos and fire demons.
