The very first trailer for Tarsem Singh‘s upcoming Greek mythology epic, Immortals, has been released online for the masses to see.

The trailer shows off stunning visuals — as we all have come to expect from Singh, who has previously directed The Cell and The Fall — and looks seriously epic. It also features an impressive cast led by the new Superman, Henry Cavill, as well as Stephen Dorff, Isabel Lucas, Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, John Hurt, and Mickey Rourke.

5 New Posters Show Off The Greek Gods Of Tarsem Singh’s ‘Immortals’
  |  @   |

Relativity Media has released a group of five new character posters for director Tarsem Singh‘s upcoming Greek mythology epic, Immortals (previously known as War of Gods).

In the posters we see Henry Cavill (the new Superman and star of The Tudors) as the main character, Theseus, Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans, The Three Musketeers) as Zeus, Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga, A Nightmare on Elm Street) as Poseidon, Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Daybreakers) as Athena, and Daniel Sharman as Ares.

The movie follows Theseus, who’s chosen by Zeus to protect the homelands from the threat of the titans and save the gods with the help of a priestess (Freida Pinto) and slave (Stephen Dorff).

Geek Peek: First Images From Tarsem Singh’s ‘Immortals’
  |  @   |

We’ve covered all of the Greek mythology epics that have been in the process of being made over the past couple of years quite a bit. Louis Leterrier’s Clash of the Titans came and went — to some pretty heavy negativity, no less — and now we wait patiently for Tarsem Singh‘s Immortals, which if you hadn’t heard, was formerly known as War of Gods.

The first set of images from Immortals have found their way to the internet by way of Rogue Pictures, and they’re good enough to make the November 11, 2011 release date sound just a little too far away.

‘War Of Gods’ Becomes ‘Immortals’; Adds John Hurt & Isabel Lucas
  |  @   |

It was a little strange when we were informed that two movies based on Greek mythology were coming — one an adaptation of popular video game God of War; the other being Tarsem Singh‘s War of Gods — with such similar titles. Though the Brett Ratner-directed God of War has since been put to sleep for now, it looks as if they don’t want to take the risk on title confusions among movie-goers.

In a press release put out by Relativity Media, it was announced that War of Gods will now officially be called Immortals. The new title doesn’t sound quite as epic (more like a Highlander sequel), but is effective enough for what they need it to be. Another possible title was Dawn of War.

Party Boy From ‘Jackass’ & Stephen Dorff To Star In Sofia Coppola’s ‘Somewhere’
  |  @   |

That…that may just be the oddest title I’ve ever written.

Odd or not, though, the title shines true. It’s being reported that Chris Pontius, star of MTV’s Jackass as the ever-popular Party Boy, has been cast alongside Stephen Dorff (Blade, Deuces Wild) in Sofia Coppola‘s (Marie Antoinette, Lost in Translation) new film, Somewhere.

Pontius was cast in the role of Sammy, who is the best friend to Dorff’s character. The movie is about Dorff, a “bad-boy” actor who lives in West Hollywood and gets a reality check when his eleven year old daughter (played by Elle Fanning, sister of Dakota) shows up. This causes him to completely re-examine his life and how he goes about it.

Pontius wouldn’t strike you as the acting type exactly, as he always comes off as quiet and a little goofy on Jackass, possibly due to a stiff drink or two…or maybe something else. He has, however, done a little acting here and there, playing an Irish henchman in McG’s Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle; playing Jesus in TV: The Movie; and appearing in a film called What We Do Is Secret.
