The Kindle eBook deal of the day over at Amazon is today is the Stephenie Meyer Novels, including The Twilight Saga and The Host for $2.99 or less for each title.
A while back when Lionsgate acquired Summit Entertainment, it was revealed in completely unsurprising fashion that a reboot of their mega-hit Twilight Saga franchise was a very real possibility.
Everyone else seems to be insta-booting their blockbuster-caliber properties—after successful and unsuccessful attempts alike—so it makes plenty of sense for Lionsgate to want to keep milking as much money out of Twilight as they can. And with their two-part adaptation of the final book in the Stephenie Meyer book series, Breaking Dawn, set close things out this coming fall season, the options were to reboot everything and start from scratch or wait for Meyer to write inevitable future installments.
Now, according to Lionsgate co-chairman Rob Friedman, it could be the latter instead of the former that the suits are leaning toward.
To coincide with Valentine’s Day today, the Kindle eBook deal of the day over at Amazon is Twilight – The Twilight Saga, Book 1 – by Stephenie Meyer for only $2.99 (that’s 63% off the list price of $7.99).
Note – this deal is valid only for today, Friday, February 14, 2012, until 11:59pm PST.
If you’d like to purchase a physical copy of Twilight, the book is also available in trade paperback for $7.91, while the paperback is $7.99 and is part of Amazon’s 4-for-3 promotion, where you can purchase four select items for the price of three (see the Special Offers and Product Promotions section of the product page).
Diane Kruger, the German actress who’s starred in such films as Troy, National Treasure, and Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, has entered into negotiations to join the cast of The Host, an adaptation of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer‘s sci-fi book of the same name.
The actress would join a cast that already includes Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones, Hanna), Max Irons (Dorian Gray, Red Riding Hood) and Jake Abel (Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, I Am Number Four).
It was announced Friday that Lionsgate had completed an acquisition of Summit Entertainment for a grand total of $412.5 million. And while that sounds like a lot of coin, the purchase comes with a little franchise called The Twilight Saga, which has already inexplicably brought in over $2.5 BILLION in worldwide box office…as we can only look on, stunned, shaking our heads.
The one great thing (for said stunned head-shaking public, anyway) about The Twilight Saga was the fact that we knew that after they drew it out as long as possible and milked every penny they could out of their fans, it would be done and over with. Such a silly thing for us to hope for.
