FROZEN 2

Frozen 2
Director: Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee
Writer: Jennifer Lee
Cast: Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, Sterling K. Brown, Evan Rachel Wood, Alfred Molina, Martha Plimpton, Jason Ritter, Rachel Matthews, Jeremy Sisto, Santino Fontana, Ciarán Hinds, Alan Tudyk
Distributor: Walt Disney Studios
Rated PG | Minutes: 103
Release Date: November 22, 2019

Even six years after its release, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen never stopped being a magical phenomenon as it continued on to thrive with its animated short Frozen Fever and its made-for-TV special Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. While both were fun expansions on the franchise, they weren’t really the deep dives into the original film’s characters or mythology that we would expect to see. Though Frozen 2 is not as narratively strong as the first, it is a rare Disney-animated musical sequel that is still a force to be reckoned with because of its emphasis on character development and continuing to echo the themes of female empowerment, while pushing the boundaries in its music and visuals. My full review of Frozen 2 here below.

FROZEN 2

Frozen 2 was a four-year process in the making. In the past few years, the cast and crew have kept the worldwide phenomenon alive by working on various shorts like Frozen Fever and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. But now co-director and writer Jennifer Lee, co-director Chris Buck, and producer Peter Del Vecho, along with the voice talents of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad all return for the long-awaited sequel of the beloved animated musical.

Geeks Of Doom joined a group of journalists for a rare opportunity of a sneak peek of Frozen 2 to learn all about why Walt Disney Animation Studios returned to Arendelle and what it takes to make a sequel happen.

Over the next few weeks leading up to the release of the highly anticipated sequel, we will be sharing what we saw from the sneak preview, including a look at the new characters that will appear, how to build a musical ballad, and the new story arcs for Anna and Elsa. But before all of that, we will share what Lee, Buck, and Del Vecho had to say about the sequel, the research they did, working with Oscar-winners Bobby and Kristen Lopez, the new characters that you will meet, and more.

Walt Disney Animation Studios teased us with a beautifully animated Frozen 2 trailer a few months back. Though it was a bit vague, it was clear that sequel would take a darker turn.

Now a new trailer reveals a bit more of the plot. In it, Elsa (Idina Menzel) is trying to understand her powers, and will go on a journey to discover the truth about them. And with the help of her sister Anna (Kristen Bell), the ice collecting Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), and cheery snowman Olaf (Josh Gad), they will discover that there may be more to Elsa’s powers than meets the eye. Check out the trailer and some images below.
