I’m not one for the over-dramatized, based on a true story kind of movie. But for most of them, there is something special and inspirational that makes me want to know more about the subject’s story. Case in point, Hacksaw Ridge.
Now I didn’t know anything about Desmond Doss’ harrowing story of how he refused to take up arms during World War II, but ended up saving multiple lives during the Battle of Okinawa. But to see it on the big screen was something else. The fact that it was also directed by Mel Gibson did add some concern to it, given his outrageous behavior and reputation. Still, the film managed to meet my expectations. Check out my review below.
A trailer has been released for Lights Out, a new horror movie produced by James Wan, the director of the original Saw, Insidious, and The Conjuring. The movie is directed by David F. Sandberg, who makes his feature debut, based on his own short film of the same name.
The movie stars Teresa Palmer, Gabriel Bateman, Billy Burke, Alexander DiPersia, Maria Bello, Lotta Losten, Amiah Miller, Andi Osho, and Ava Cantrell and follows a woman and her brother as they deal with something terrifying hiding in the darkness.

Warner Brothers has released the first trailer for Point Break, the remake of The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 action hit of the same name that starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze.
The remake stars Luke Bracey in the role of Johnny Utah, Reeves’ role in the original, with Swayze’s Bodhi role being played by Edgar Ramirez. The movie also stars Teresa Palmer, Ray Winstone, and Delroy Lindo, and is directed by Ericson Core.

A red band trailer has been released for Kill Me Three Times, a dark new action comedy starring Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Star Trek).
In the movie Pegg plays an assassin who is hired to kill a man’s wife, but quickly discovers that he isn’t the only one trying to eliminate his target. It also stars Alice Braga (City of God, Elysium), Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise of an Empire, Strike Back), Teresa Palmer (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Warm Bodies), Callan Mulvey (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 300: Rise of an Empire), Luke Hemsworth (The Anomaly, The Reckoning), and Bryan Brown (The Thorn Birds, Gorillas in the Mist).
You can read a synopsis and check out the red band trailer for Kill Me Three Times below. The trailer is NSFW obviously, due to some naughty words and violence. The only specks of nudity—seen on postcards in the international trailer also included below—are blurred out in this, the red band trailer. Because our precious, fragile little eyes cannot handle such things here in the States.
