Avengers vs. X-Men Infinite #1
Creators: Richard Isanova, Joe Quesada, Mark Waid
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Release Date: April 4, 2012
Cover Price: $.99

The release of Avengers vs. X-Men Infinite #1 exclusive to digital represents the culminations of two big pushes by Marvel Comics. The first is the beginning of Marvel’s big summer event, the final run of Brian Michael Bendis on The Avengers. The second push involves Marvel’s next generation of digital comics: Infinite. First the story…

Avengers vs. X-Men Infinite #1 is a short story, even for a comic book, but it’s only $.99 bought alone or it comes free with the full-on Avengers vs. X-Men #1. Infinite #1 is a prequel to the events in the first issue of this new story arc. The Phoenix Force is returning to Earth. If you aren’t aware of what the force is you obviously haven’t ever been an X-Men fan. The Phoenix Force is an incredibly powerful entity that often visits Earth via a human host. When it comes it typically brings heartache, death, and massive destruction. The space-traveling Nova is the first person to see the trajectory of the Phoenix and he pushes himself beyond the limits of his own power to rush to Earth and deliver a warning. This story follows his journey.

ABC’s ‘The Chew’ To Feature Marvel’s ‘Avengers Vs. X-Men’; Yes, Cookies Will Be Made
  |

In an incredibly bizarre stroke of corporate synergy, Marvel announced on Tuesday that their hot summer comic book event Avengers Vs. X-Men will be featured on ABC‘s The Chew on Wednesday, April 4, 2012.

Yeah, I have no idea either, but this is apparently a real thing. Marvel states that the chefs of the talk/cooking show hybrid will both be discussing the comic as well as providing some healthy recipes for viewers of which, and I quote, “even Captain America would approve.” For those that don’t know, Disney owns both the ABC network as well as Marvel Comics, so it’s not really a surprise that there would be some cross-promotion going on here. But on a cooking show?

I don’t know, it sounds kind of ridiculous when you think that maybe Brian Michael Bendis and other creators could have been interviewed on any of the other numerous talk shows that ABC hosts, and maybe they are and I just haven’t seen anything about it. Either way, this is a very weird thing to take place. And if you don’t mind, I’m going to hypothesize about what we could be seeing…

Jonathan Hickman Ends ‘Fantastic’ Run
  |

Marvel Comics announced on Friday that acclaimed writer Jonathan Hickman would be wrapping up his 3-year Fantastic Four run in October.

While the future of the Fantastic Four title is surely not in jeopardy, it remains to be seen whether or not Hickman’s initiated FF series will continue with another creative team. Jonathan Hickman’s run with these characters has been highly praised by many within the industry and created a strong and rejuvenated interest in the characters. For example, when I was starting to get in to the Fantastic Four, many suggested Hickman’s run alongside Mark Waid’s, John Byrne’s, and Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s tenure with the title. Therefore, in many readers’ eyes, he’s placed amongst the greats. So, while this news may come as a shock to many fans, Hickman isn’t the only one who’s shifting creative gears.
