The Conjuring has come a long way since its debut back in 2013. Not only have there been sequels, but there have also been spin-offs. In fact, there is an entire universe based on The Conjuring.
And that is all thanks in part to James Wan. Wan, who directed the first two Conjuring films, seemed like he would be closing out the trilogy. However, that’s not the case anymore. Wan will be stepping away from The Conjuring 3, and letting Michael Chaves take over directorial duties. But Wan won’t be too far away as he will still be a producer on the film. More on the story below.
Now that the franchise as a whole is going by the name The Conjuring Universe, we knew it was only a matter of time before The Conjuring 3 would be on the way. The first two movies making over $638 million worldwide combined probably helps as well.
It’s being reported that New Line Cinema has hired The Conjuring 2 writer David Leslie Johnson to work on the script for the trilogy-maker. James Wan, who directed the first two movies and was also a writer and producer on the second installment, is expected to be involved in the project, though the report says he’ll likely produce this time with a new director brought in.
The Conjuring universe is quickly becoming terrifying as it expands. Since its release, the movie has spawned off at least one sequel and multiple spinoffs, some of which got a sequel themselves. Now get ready for the newest spinoff.
According to new reports, Warner Bros. is working on their fourth spinoff based on the collection of creatures and possessed items seen in the Conjuring films. The Crooked Man, based on the man of the same name seen in The Conjuring 2, is that fourth spinoff. Check out more about this story below.
There were few recent films that were genuinely able to capture the essence of fright and scares like James Wan‘s The Conjuring. The director proved that jump scares weren’t necessary, and was able to build tension with precision. Now he’s back to follow that up with The Conjuring 2, with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprising their roles as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. However, the sequel will take them across the pond all the way to England where they will have to face what is described as England’s Amityville.
New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have released the first trailer to James Wan‘s The Conjuring 2, the sequel to the director’s 2013 hit. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return to reprise their roles as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
