The sequel is directed by David F. Sandberg, whose feature debut was last year’s surprise hit Lights Out, a movie which cost under $5 million to make and ended up bringing in nearly $150 million worldwide at the box office. The screenplay was written by Gary Dauberman, who also penned the first movie and worked on the scripts for the upcoming movie adaptation of Stephen King’s IT and another Conjuring spinoff, next year’s The Nun. There were few recent films that were genuinely able to capture the essence of fright and scares like James Wan‘s The Conjuring. The director proved that jump scares weren’t necessary, and was able to build tension with precision. Now he’s back to follow that up with The Conjuring 2, with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprising their roles as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. However, the sequel will take them across the pond all the way to England where they will have to face what is described as England’s Amityville.
New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have released the first trailer to James Wan‘s The Conjuring 2, the sequel to the director’s 2013 hit. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return to reprise their roles as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

James Wan‘s The Conjuring was a bonafide thriller and critical success, and of course when you have a box office smash that also happens to be an R-rated horror film, studios want to see more — remember Saw. The film also contained various demon-possessed objects like the Annabelle doll which received its own spinoff film, Annabelle — which was also another box office hit.
Considering Wan said he was going to take a break from horror by directing Fast and Furious 7, some wondered when we would make his return to the scare-filled genre. It appears that his break won’t last very long, as it has been confirmed that he will return to direct The Conjuring 2, which is set for a 2016 release.
