Julia Roberts smiles. Tom Cruise runs. Brad Pitt…well he eats.

Movieclips has assembled a brief video montage of Pitt enjoying various foodstuffs and libations in movies like Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s trilogy, Johnny Suede, Troy, Burn After Reading, Seven, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Kalifornia, and The Mexican. The most time is given to Meet Joe Black, the movie best known for introducing the Grim Reaper to the joys of peanut butter. Thus a love affair for the ages was set in motion.

Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Predators’ Puts Faces To Its Group Of Characters
  |  @   |

Not too long ago, word came out that Danny Trejo (Con Air, Desperado) was the first name to be cast in Predators — the new reboot directed by Nimród Antal and produced by Robert Rodriguez and his Troublemaker Studios. That news was immediately followed up by a script review that filled us in on all of the dirty details, as well as the many cool and exciting characters that we would see battling to survive the vicious creatures in the movie (Read: Script Review Of Robert Rodriguez’s “˜Predators’ Reveals All Kinds Of Juicy Details; Our Dream Cast Shared!). With one swift blow, the majority of the actors who will be filling these excellent roles has now been revealed, and while they are not the part of the fantasy cast we put together, there’s not denying that it’s an interesting group.

The list of names includes Academy Award winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist, King Kong); Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3, That 70s Show) is currently in negotiations; Alice Braga (City of God, I Am Legend); Mahershalalhashbaz Ali (The 4400, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button); Walt Goggins (The Shield, Shanghai Noon); and former UFC star Oleg Taktarov (Bad Boys 2, 15 Minutes).

DVD Review: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Blu-ray)

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Directed by David Fincher
Blu-ray Edition
Starring Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Taraji P. Henson
Paramount Home Entertainment
Release Date: May 5, 2009

A wonderfully witty and magical tale coming from a 1921 F. Scott Fitzgerald short story is what caught the eye of director David Fincher. That this odd fable can still be able to gather up the natural resources that it takes to create an emotional love story that harkens back to the earlier style cinema romances is a head scratching miracle. Fincher’s previous work has always been spread across the table, working with films that can’t be classified within a certain genre: Fight Club and Seven. His films specialize in making the brain feel numb, helpless, and absorbed; all in which were in top form with his last film, Zodiac. With The Curious Case of Benjamin Button he wants to see life from an entirely different perspective than that of what previous films have depicted and in a different way as he shot the film digitally giving the film a bitterness and isolated feel. In doing so the result is that of a perspective that we can’t even begin to fathom, let alone appreciate.

We can’t appreciate moments in the film because our central character doesn’t fully appreciate them. His name is Benjamin (Brad Pitt) and he was born in 1919 as little as an infant but as old as an 80-year-old man. He lives life backwards as time goes by, decreasing in age while his looks become younger. All the while his brain tries to function what exactly is going on.

2009 Academy Awards Winners
  |  @   |

Well, ladies and gentlemen, tonight was the big night — the 81st Academy Awards ceremony and below we have the full list of winners for you.

This was notable because it seemed a large effort was being put forward to change things up a bit and make the show a lot more entertaining in an attempt to bring in more viewers. They went off the track and hired Hugh Jackman to host the show instead of the normal comedian, they shook things up by using different methods of presenters, such as five previous winners instead of just last year’s winner. They tried a new thing called the “yearbook” where various clips from various genres from the year were shown; this was a chance to show movies like Hancock, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Death Race to try and appeal to younger crowds. They even changed up the In Memoriam section, having Queen Latifah sing live while our dearly departed were shown one last time on screens in the background.

Now I’m not sure if it’s just me, or what the overall consensus will be, but personally, I thought it was a massive failure. The show was severely boring and hard to watch at times. After promises of Hugh Jackman not doing “Hugh Jackman” things like singing and dancing, he surely did plenty of singing and dancing, including a real high point where it turned into a duet with Beyonce, which turned into a double duet with Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens from High School Musical, and then a duet menage a trois with who I think were Mamma Mia people. Really, just… hard to watch. I in fact muted it.
