The Daily Show with Jon Stewart World of Warcraft

For those who have not yet heard, the NSA surveillance scandal apparently goes deeper than just phones and e-mail. A new report claims that agent shave been planted in games such as World of Warcraft and Second Life to spy on gamers.

So of course this was something far too tempting for Jon Stewart and his team at The Daily Show, including correspondent Aasif Mandvi, to take on in a recent episode.

John Oliver Hosting The Daily Show

Popular writer and correspondent for The Daily Show with John Stewart on Comedy Central, John Oliver, has signed a deal to star in a new weekly topical comedy series on HBO.

This of course means that Oliver’s almost eight-year run on The Daily Show—which resulted in six Primetime Emmy Award nominations (winning three of them), five Writers Guild of America Award nominations (winning one of them), and a very successful (as you can tell) stint filling in as host this past summer when Stewart stepped away to make his feature directorial debut, Rosewater—will be coming to an end.

John Oliver The Daily Show Iron Man rant

On last night’s episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, fill-in host John Oliver (who I love!) did a segment called “Track to the Future,” which took a look at the much-talked-about “Hyperloop,” the super high-speed train proposed by SpaceX CEO and PayPal co-founder Elon Musk that would get travelers from Los Angeles to San Francisco in just 30 minutes.

In the six-minute segment of the comedy news show, Oliver took umbrage with CNN Live’s profile on Musk, where they state that the 42-year-old billionaire inventor was the inspiration for Iron Man‘s Tony Stark character. (Oh, yes they did!)

You can watch the full segment below.

If you’re one of those people who feel lost whenever Jon Stewart‘s Comedy Central news show The Daily Show goes on break for a couple of weeks, get ready for a much lengthier break…sort of.

It’s being reported that Stewart will be taking the summer off from hosting the show—about twelve weeks when it’s all said and done—but it won’t be a vacation spent lounging around on a tropical island somewhere. Stewart is taking the time off to make his debut as a feature film director on a movie titled Rosewater.
