‘Divergent’ Trailer and Poster: Shailene Woodley Is In A Class Of Her Own

Adaptation of YA Novels are a dime a dozen. So few of the ones that do launch find their way on the path of a sequel. How City of Bones did it is beyond me. But Summit Entertainment hopes that the adaptation of Veronica Roth‘s Divergent series is one of those to join the ranks of Harry Potter, Twilight, and The Hunger Games.

The film is set in a futuristic Chicago where all of its citizens are separated into classes based on their personality. Shailene Woodley plays Tris, a special breed of human who cannot be identified by her personality, therefore she is seen as a threat to society by the government. The 5 Virtue-Based Factions Of ‘Divergent’ (Infographic)

The first footage for Divergent made its debut last night at the MTV Video Music Awards live pre-show.

The film is set in a dystopian Chicago in a society where people are divided into five factions dedicated to a specific virtue: Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). There’s only one chance in a person’s life to switch to a different faction, and then at that point, they can never go back to their friends and family of their original faction. Then there are the “divergents,” those who cannot be categorized into one group, which puts them in danger, as those in charge want to rid the world of these people.

Summit Entertainment has released an infographic based on the 5 virtue-based factions ofDivergent. Check it out here below.

In this newly released trailer, the footage was more focused on the fact that Tris is a “divergent,” a person who cannot be categorized into one faction, which means she’s in danger of being eradicated.
