During Bethesda’s E3 2017 showcase, they shared trailers for a pair of upcoming virtual reality titles, Fallout 4 VR and DOOM VFR. Some were hoping that this meant we might also see a VR experience for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as well, but nothing was said about it at the time.
As it turned out, the trailer for a Skyrim VR experience was simply being saved for a little bit later. It was shown during Sony’s PlayStation presentation earlier this week, because the game is being released on PlayStation VR. It’s already been three years now since The Elder Scrolls Online was initially launched. In the middle of celebrating the occasion, publisher Bethesda Softworks and developer ZeniMax Online Studios want to give those who have yet to discover the MMO set in Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls universe a chance to escape to that world for an entire week.
Starting today, players on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Mac can download and play the entire base game for free. And those who take them up on the offer can keep playing it until one week from today, April 18th.
