Jim Henson’s ‘The Dark Crystal’ Returning To Theaters Soon

Another classic is returning to theaters through Fathom Events. This time it’s The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth director Jim Henson‘s 1982 puppet fantasy feature.

Watch: Teaser For Netflix’s ‘The Dark Crystal’ Prequel ‘Age Of Resistance’

We’ve been hearing about a sequel to Jim Henson‘s The Dark Crystal for a while now, but nothing has ever come of it. But today, out of left field, Netflix has released a teaser trailer for a new prequel series titled The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance…and yes, it has puppets.

The teaser begins with Henson himself talking about the original with some shots of concept art. That’s followed by some peeks at the work they’re currently doing over at Henson’s Creature Shop. And finally, a quick peek at the new series.

Sequel To Jim Henson’s ‘Labyrinth’ To Be Directed By ‘Don’t Breathe,’ ‘Evil Dead’s Fede Alvarez

Back in 2014 came surprising word of a sequel to Jim Henson‘s 1986 feature Labyrinth. The sequel was quickly denied by sources, but no one ever knows if denials like that are because something is actually not happening or if word of it got out to the public before they were ready. A little over a year later the project surfaced again, this time with Guardians of the Galaxy writer Nicole Perlman, though she later said it was clickbait.

Now comes word of a new attempt. It’s being reported that the director behind 2013’s Evil Dead and last year’s Don’t Breathe, Fede Alvarez, has come on board to write and direct the Labyrinth sequel.

Jamie Foxx In Talks For R-Rated Jim Henson Co. Puppet Movie ‘The Happytime Murders’

Ray, Collateral, and Django Unchained star Jamie Foxx has entered into negotiations to star in The Happytime Murders, an R-rated dark comedy puppet noir movie from The Jim Henson Company and STX Entertainment.

The movie, which has been in development for the better part of a decade now, will follow a pair of detectives attempting to solve the mysterious murders of the puppet stars of a popular TV show. It will be directed by Brian Henson, the chairman of The Jim Henson Co. and son of the legendary Jim Henson himself.

Jim Henson’s ‘Labyrinth’ Reboot On The Way With ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Writer

In October of 2014 we shared with you news that Labyrinth, the 1986 movie directed by the late, great Jim Henson, could be getting a sequel. Many were excited by the news, but it was then reported not long after that that sources had denied that a sequel to the puppet filled fantasy flick was actually being made. And we all moved on.

Though fans were excited about the thought of another adventure in the labyrinth with all of our favorite characters, including Jareth the Goblin King (played by David Bowie), prepare for some news you might not be so excited about. It’s now being reported that, not even two weeks after Bowie left us forever, a reboot of Labyrinth is in the works.
