Deadpool 2 Teaser: Ryan Reynolds As Bob Ross

I’m a huge fan of Bob Ross and his Joy of Painting series, just like so many others are. Though he left us over two decades ago, his impact on people is still evident. Whether it’s thousands flocking to Twitch to watch his old shows, or YouTube creators bringing him back to life in other worlds, there’s no denying how important Ross was to many. Even Deadpool, apparently.

A teaser video has been released for the highly anticipated sequel Deadpool 2 titled “Wet on Wet,” and in it Ryan Reynolds goes full Bob Ross in his own special version of The Joy of Painting. There’s no real point to all of this aside from the fact that it’s hilarious and unexpected. But it all leads to a few quickfire peeks at the upcoming movie.

Bob Ross Fallout 4

The UpIsNotJump YouTube channel is back with another brilliant Fallout 4 video. We’ve seen them re-create some of the best scenes from the hit animated series Rick and Morty (watch here and here), and now they’re bringing none other than the legend of relaxing painting instruction himself, Bob Ross, and his show The Joy of Painting into the Fallout universe.

The video uses audio from Ross’s many wonderful episodes of the show, and uses Fallout 4 and mods to deliver Ross’s instruction in a much, much different way than fans of the late artist’s show are used to. It’s a fun combination of humor and nostalgia, especially for fans of both the show and the video game.

The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross

One of my many fond memories from childhood is sitting and watching Mr. Bob Ross paint on his show The Joy of Painting. I can’t tell you how many times I dozed off to his comforting voice, but I have no doubt the number would be astronomical. His impact on me has been a lasting one—right this very moment, I have 46 episodes of The Best of the Joy of Painting stored on my DVR for whenever I feel like throwing one on to fall asleep to (they air them on the TV channel Create). He wasn’t the greatest painter of all time, but he shared a technique that made it accessible to anyone, and did it in the most appealing way possible.

So you can imagine my joy at the news that Twitch is currently streaming all 403 episodes of Ross’s painting series as part of their new spinoff Twitch Creative where, instead of streaming themselves playing video games, which is what Twitch is best known for, users will stream themselves drawing, painting, and creating other forms of arts and crafts.
