On the first day back from the holiday break, James Corden spoke about the first time he met George Michael, for Comic Relief’s “Red Nose Day,” a huge charity in England for the famine in Ethiopia. The sketch had him and George singing in a car on their way to save Red Nose Day. The Late, Late Show With James Corden has had immense success with “Carpool Karaoke,” and this was where it was born. “It was the first time I’d ever sung in a car with anybody, and it’s become quite a big part of my life now, and he really inspired it.”
My new guilty pleasure (okay, not so guilty) is the “Carpool Karaoke” bit James Corden does on The Late Late Show With James Corden. I’m always checking for guests as a fangirl, like the super awesome time he did it with The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Last night, Corden had the First Lady herself Michelle Obama belt out a tune or two, joining him for his musical ride.
You all may know by now that I am a fan of the late night talk show shtick (Jimmy Fallon IS my boyfriend). “History of Rap,” “Mean Tweets,” Really?” “Freestylin With The Roots” – If I hear it was done, I am on my DVR or Youtube the next morning (my bedtime is 9pm). Recently, and maybe I am late to the party, I chanced upon a lovely bit on The Late Late Show with James Corden, that I could swear he got from me (sans celebrity guests)… Carpool Karaoke. The discovery was made when James Corden had the lovely Gwen Stefani riding shotgun, and they then picked up George Clooney and Julia Roberts (cue brain explosion).
Well last night Corden delighted us by showing his experience driving around and singing around with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
