A group of enthusiastic pranksters going by the name of Trollstation out of the UK decided to find out just who thinks they are worthy of the power of the Mighty Thor. Just in time for this week’s U.S. release of Avengers: Age of Ultron (the film has been out a week in the UK), the prank basically entailed someone using some heavy duty adhesive to glue a replica of Mjolnir, the famed weapon of Thor, to some concrete in a public square. Passersby then tried to determine their worthiness by attempting to lift the “magic” hammer.
The concept is based on the famous inscription from the Marvel comics stating “Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.” Of course the hammer now mentions that if he OR she be worthy, and in the video, plenty of women gave the challenge a try themselves.
From the looks of it, we puny mortals should probably just leave the heavy lifting to the Asgardians. That and apparently wearing a jacket seems to have an effect on our worthiness. Check out the video here below.
At this year’s WonderCon back in April, IDW Publishing announced the upcoming release of a new artist’s edition hardcover of Walt Simonson‘s classic 7-issue run on Marvel’s The Mighty Thor. Today, IDW has announced that they will be offering a limited edition of only 300 copies with a variant cover that will be available only at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con in July. You can pre-orderWalter Simonson’s Thor Artist’s Edition Variant Cover Edition online now direct from IDW and then pick it up at the convention, or purchase it at the IDW booth during the Con (if you pre-order online, you can ONLY pick it up at the convention; there’s NO options for shipping).

IDW Publishing announced this weekend at WonderCon 2011 the release of a new hardcover collecting 7 issues of Walt Simonson‘s classic run on Marvel’s The Mighty Thor. The collection will be called Walter Simonson’s The Mighty Thor: Artist’s Edition and will be out this July. The collection will feature issues #337-340 and #360-362 of Simonson’s run. These issues feature the debut of fan favorite character Beta Ray Bill. The collection, which will debut at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, will be 176 oversized (12″ x 17″) pages and will run you $100. [Update: Currently $73.03 at amazon.]
