As Warner Bros. unite the various DC heroes for the DCEU, one hero’s spot on the superhero ensemble remained uncertain. It has only been a few years since we’ve heard anything about WB’s Shazam, but early reports say that he might not even be on the team. Since Dwayne Johnsonaccepted the role of Black Adam in 2014, the actor as called the character an anti-hero, which is contrary to how he’s normally depicted in the comics, which is to serve as a villain to the heroic Shazam.
Now there are reports that Black Adam and Shazam will be two separate films entirely. Not only that, but Black Adam will also appear in Shazam as well. More on the story below.
Filming has begun on Jumanji, the next movie in the fantasy adventure series starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black.
To mark the occasion, The Rock has shared the first image from the movie, with the cast in full costume standing in the jungle. Johnson has said that the movie is more of a continuation of the story told in the original 1995 movie starring Robin Williams than a remake, and judging by the image it looks like at least part of the movie will be taking us to the other side of the mysterious board game.
Back in 2012 we heard word that Sony had plans forMen In Black 4, 21 Jump Street 2, and a Jumanji remake. We’ve already seen 22 Jump Street, and, intriguingly enough, a Men in Black and Jump Streetcrossover movie appears to be actually happening.
Now the Jumanji remake, or re-imagining, is also coming together. The movie already has Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart, who are co-starring together in the upcoming comedy Central Intelligence, set for the remake. And now it’s been revealed that High Fidelity and Bernie star Jack Black has joined them on the cast.
You might have assumed that a massive disaster flick like last year’s San Andreas was one of those rare blockbusters that wouldn’t get a sequel, even if it was a hit. You underestimate Hollywood. The movie was a huge hit, making nearly half a billion dollars worldwide, and it has now been confirmed that a sequel is officially in the works.
New Line is developing the sequel, and has hired the writing duo of Neil Widener and Gavin James to work on the screenplay. Carlton Cuse penned the first movie’s screenplay based on a story by Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore. Additionally, the cast of the first movie including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, and Paul Giamatti are all expected to return for the sequel. Director Brad Peyton is also expected to return.
