Well it has once again come to that time of year when all of us movie geeks go over our list of movies we have seen over the past year and try to make our top ten lists. As I look over my list of movies that I saw in 2013, there have been some good ones (more on that later), along with some I wish I could get my time back (Amour, How I Live Now, and The Great Gatsby just to name a few). According to my list, I have seen 92 new movies in 2013, and by new, I mean anything I have not seen before, for example, I finally got North by Northwest off my list of shame.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty Directed by Ben Stiller
Written by Steve Conrad
Starring Ben Stiller, Kristin Wiig, Adam Scott, Sean Penn, and Shirley MacLaine
Release date: December 25, 2013
Ben Stiller‘s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a common, oft-heard message masquerading as an insight.
To be fair, the message is a sound one “” one we’ve all heard countless times “” but one that few of us heed: Live. Live your life. Get out there and experience it. In order to remind us of that message, superimposed text graphics that feel like they’re from a “Just Do It” Nike commercial, are peppered throughout.
Again, while the sentiment is worthy, I fretted our culture has cultivated an audience for material that feels pithy, but is anything but. In short, the suggestion that they’ve experienced something deep and enriching is enough to make them believe they actually have.
We saw the first trailer for the long-coming new adaptation of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty back in July, and it looked very promising, especially in the visuals department. But if that trailer wasn’t enough for you, a new extended trailer has been released, clocking in at just over six minutes and showing off much more of what you can expect from the movie, which hits theaters on Christmas day.
Walter Mitty is directed by and stars Ben Stiller in the title role, with Kristen Wiig, Shirley MacLaine, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn, Patton Oswalt, and Sean Penn joining him on the cast.

The movie is directed by and stars Ben Stiller as a daydreamer who often escapes to his own fantasy worlds. It also stars Kristen Wiig, Shirley MacLaine, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn, and Sean Penn, and will arrive in theaters on Christmas day.
